Everything Music *Official Music Thread*
Re: Everything Music *Official Music Thread*
Oh yeah, Zao..
one of my first discoveries in the metal scene. (ugh, I hate that word)
Back then I used to like out to, while it is pretty bad. Well, not bad bad, but definitely not good either.
And I found out they where Christian Black Metal. I mean, what the fuck?

I have a very very eclectic taste in music. To me, being a true music fan is never refusing to listen to a song at least once, so have everything from Green Day to Immortal to the Statler Brothers on my itunes.
Now that I have that out of the way, I present the best song ever:

'tis. I made a CD for a kid consisting of nothing but that stuff. I mean, the music is fine and dandy, but the whole idea of it just kind of ruins it for me.Chernobog wrote:...wait what? Is that possible?kilon wrote:Christian Black Metal.
Personally, I like stuff like Immortal. They don't even swear in their music! They just go on about battles... and how cold it is in Norway.

It just doesn't make much sense to me, given the normal lyrical content of Black Metal...but oh well.Arquebusierx wrote:'tis. I made a CD for a kid consisting of nothing but that stuff. eh, I've admittedly never heard anything by Immortal and I'm somewhat intrigued so I might check them out, but it's hard for me to get excited about anything black metal. Doesn't have the right feeling to it. I normally stick to melodic death.

Yeah, I find they have a whole different feel from other black metal bands. They aren't just screaming, their music builds up, crescendos, etc.Chernobog wrote:

Check em out, just ignore the lame video with random video effects thrown in.

Its like white black metal. Diet black metal if you will. Black metal minus anything that could make something definitively black metal. You can't just get away with for replacing Vikings with Jesus, thats an unforgivable offense in my book.kilon wrote:And I found out they where Christian Black Metal. I mean, what the fuck?
It was Professor Plum in the kitchen with the monkey wrench. Trust me.
Re: Everything Music *Official Music Thread*
But.. the whole atmosphere makes Black Metal .. Black Metal.
I mean, the rawness of it all. You can't just change the lyrics and say now it is pro Christian.
Ah well, I suppose there is an audience for it?

Re: Everything Music *Official Music Thread*
If I had to do a personal top 5 of my fav' bands
1. Pink Floyd - Psychedelic/Prog Rock
2. Dream Theater - Prog Metal/Rock
3. Harmonium - Prog *Quebec* Rock
4. System of a Down - Nu' Metal
5. Mike Oldfield - Unknown (haha)
There has to be many more but 5 is 5. I love and live for music. I just don't like too commercial and pop-like things, plus pure "yeah f$?#@ you m@#$? f!#%$?!"-type rap. Also, vocal classical music, which I particularly hate because it kills the orchestra. Anyways, that's it, I guess!

Ahhh asfkshflasdf! System of a Down! they're awesome thumbs up for youurockdet wrote:4. System of a Down - Nu' Metal
Me, well i really like hardcore-like music, also rock, some alternative, indie stuff too, but for me it just kinda depends on the song, it could be 'catchy' and not be classified under my music preferences.. like some of you'd said you have to give it a chance and listen to a particular song at least once in your life, otherwise, how would you dare criticize something you don't even know what is it about?
And for that, most of the time, me too!rockdet wrote: I just don't like too commercial and pop-like things, plus pure "yeah f$?#@ you m@#$? f!#%$?!"-type rap.
blep.
Re: Everything Music *Official Music Thread*
Oh yeah, we got an agreement there! You know, a top5 of my songs would be so totally different. I'd have like, 2 from Yes, 1 from Dream Theater, 1 from Alan Parsons Project and 1 from Sonata Arctica. Having a catchy tune is far from having enjoyed the integrity of a band's career in its' own whole. And for that, Pink Floyd must be my favourite one.frickinawesum wrote: Ahhh asfkshflasdf! Hey, I made this today. Is it any good?

I make musics.
@UWBW: It's good stuff, but somehow that beat sounded too techno for my 8-bit ears. Maybe that was intended, maybe that was the idea, but I didn't get the beat part. As for the melody and progression, man, that's some great stuff. Keep up the idea.
Also, do you guys know about the band uneXpect? It sounds just too amazing to me!

Re: Everything Music *Official Music Thread*
I think that's basically the purpose of their music, so that nobody can stay neutral towards it. You like it or not, and when you listen to it, it's basically "What the hell?" as well, in the good or bad way of things. And that's just why I love them!

I made it for a video game (died in its development, unfortunately), so it's rather over the top and such.
