Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
I shouldn't have to load the page 3 times so I can see what should be there as soon as I go to the page.
Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
Please tell me that YouTube did not just put sidebar results in a main search. In other words, when looking for someone's channel (let's go with raocow here), I'll get any video that has his name as one of the recommended videos on the side now. Why?

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
Doing a search by date in Chrome gives me this: http://imgur.com/yKzUbx4Ashanmaril wrote:I don't get it. What am I looking for?
In other words, any video that has a raocow video (as an example) in the recommended vidoes list on the side bar is now showing up as a result. In other words, searches for me have been made absolutely more aggravating. It used to just be any video that mentioned raocow in the description bar or was an actual video from raocow would show up. Now there are tens of thousands of unwanted results. Same for if I just search by name by date.
Edit: And what's happening is very odd because it's only like this in Google Chrome. After checking in IE, the results are actually normal as shown here: http://imgur.com/el31Hhf Strange...
Edit #2: Might be something that got into Chrome because I installed Firefox and imported my Bookmarks only to have the same issue. After unstalling and reinstalling without the bookmarks, Firefox is working fine now, too.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
Ah, okay. I see what you're saying. Yeah, I'm not having that problem. Probably an issue with Chrome. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling it? Everything should still be the same as you had it before since it's all synced with your Google account assuming you're logged into Chrome like that.
Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
I just switched to Firefox since I'm more familiar with it anyway. I think it was a malware issue that I'm hoping is corrected now that the thing is off my computer. Remember that I also had that email issue just yesterday, too, so I'm guessing it was on this end. Sorry, YT. It looks like you didn't actually screw things up for once!

I'm having some issue right now where I can't get comment, message, etc. notifications to go away. They all come up in bold font, and when I click them away they stay in the bold font as if they were still unread. I guess I can just delete them, but still... Pretty annoying.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
It's supposed to be fixed eventually in an update, but it's a problem that's been going on for about a week now. I think it has something with the page not recognizing your HTTP data. Either way, yes, this is one of those minor annoying glitches that used to not happen, making it all the more annoying. Oy!

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
YouTube can't keep a stable messaging system for more than a month. Like, every time they fix it they find a way to break it again for no reason.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
I'd understand if they did a whole messaging system overhaul and it screwed up a few things temporarily, but it just doesn't make sense when it just happens out of nowhere and on a monthly basis.
And it's been like, 5 years since the messaging system has been stable. It was fine before Google bought YouTube, but now messaging bugs are a regular thing. You'd think they'd learn already.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
Well instead of being upset about the tiny bugs, be happy the system as a whole works.
Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
They should get their priorities straight though. It's pretty cool (yet very lame) what they did when you type 'do the harlem shake' in the search bar. But why focus on that when you have a million very urgent bugs to fix.alex2 wrote:Christ you people act like everybody on the planet has to be a perfect programmer.

Yeah, this. They're adding unnecessary stuff when their basic features aren't working.kilon wrote:They should get their priorities straight though. I thought a benefit that comes with monetization. If not, that's pretty stupid.Argumentable wrote:Does everyone have the ability now to upload dumb custom thumbnails

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
I don't have the option to change to a custom thumbnail. If I do, I can't find it.
It's probably because I made sure there I'm not monetizing my videos in any way, shape, or form.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
True, but I guess I just expect old things to work before they try to add more stuff. Go figure! This one doesn't even bug me all that much, but that kind of a response from you just doesn't cut it. Nope.alex2 wrote:Bugs happen

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
A proper company programming cycle involves large amounts of testing before the software goes live to avoid common pitfalls and such things as, you know it, bugs. Youtube is notorious for publishing buggy parts of their software without properly testing it first. Parts of it get changed all the time and they break again and again.alex2 wrote:Christ you people act like everybody on the planet has to be a perfect programmer.

For a site as large as youtube, such things simply should not happen. It's rather amazing with how much stupid shit people are actually willing to put up with. The constant site layout and feature changes that only rarely bring any actual improvement to the majority of its userbase deserve all the lashing and critique they can get.
Yes, bugs do happen, but they should never happen on a live site as frequently as they do on youtube. This isn't about being a "perfect programmer". This is about having a proper testing, feedback and release cycle. The whole thing gets even more hilarious by the fact that youtube has no set release milestones that any customers could depend on. They can release whenever they want, which would give them plenty of time to test new features and layouts.

Happened to me for years, or at least it feels like it. At least close to a year. I get used to just deleting them. Sometimes the bold goes away on its own.Ashanmaril wrote:I'm having some issue right now where I can't get comment, message, etc. notifications to go away. Reminds me of Valve with Steam. Rather than fixing existing bugs they tend to spend more time adding new features. And almost never the ones that people actually want either. People have been requesting in-Steam maintenance notifications since some time in 2009 and now Steam's client has a proper notification system but Valve hasn't even so much as said they're looking into implementing it. Instead they always hint otherwise.kilon wrote:They should get their priorities straight though. It's pretty cool (yet very lame) what they did when you type 'do the harlem shake' in the search bar. Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
Pretty much my only issue with Steam right now is I want the ability to set a download queue. I don't have fast enough internet to be downloading like, 4 games at a time, so I'd like the next one to start after the previous one is over rather than manually pausing all but one and unpausing the next one when it's done.Alice wrote:Reminds me of Valve with Steam. Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
I still keep getting this occasional issue where the site will show a ton of unwanted links. I've sent a spyware check to another site for results, but I want to find out if it's my computer or YT that's causing this right now. I'll probably have to wait a day or so to find out for certain.
Edit: Yes! I'm not the only one with the problem. Thank goodness. Maybe that will help get this cleared up.
