Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
I'm hoping a new video hosting site becomes popular somehow, one that doesn't constantly make itself worse and worse with updates.

I love Google just as much as I hate it in some ways.
I love my Android phone, and certain services they provide like Google Drive, Gmail, etc. are so great, yet they've destroyed YouTube so much. I don't know what to think about them.

Oh, hey! When you click "My Subscriptions", they made the default tab "subscriptions only" now!
That means that when you want to see your subscriptions videos, it's only TWO clicks away!

Same here. I just have a few people that I'm subscribed to that I talk to... and should think about trimming that list since some of them are more distant lately.Paralars wrote:I'm not even subscribed to raocow.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
Well, I have. They've been silent while being online quite a bit in the six month time frame I'm talking about, and none of the ones I'm thinking about dumping are close. In the grand scheme of things, however, it's probably better to keep them around to avoid any potential issues.
Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
From what I've read, most youtubers don't want to use this. Or at least not as a replacement of their current channel(s).Aposke wrote:Remember when this whole "Themtube" thing was a thing?
Remember when thousands of users feared Youtube would slowly start selling out, now that it was owned by Google? That Google would slowly turn Youtube into a money-mongering, restrictive dystopia?
Well, looks like it's finally come that far.
Probably only the really 'big' youtubers are going to use this because they want to make more money with even less content. Since I don't watch any 'big' youtuber, I wouldn't care if they got of the free part of youtube. Maybe it would actually be for the best. Wishful thinking.

Oh dude, if that's your dilemma just remember that Google probably has various departments and teams. So if anything just love Google in general but hate the Youtube department.Ashanmaril wrote:I love Google just as much as I hate it in some ways.

So much temptation to link to Limepie's old unlisted videos.
But I won't because I love you. <3

It's nice to know you kept a record of all of them. (I wouldn't really mind if you linked them though; the really bad ones are private.)

An MS paint animation.
And also this one:

(not even sure if you're in that one. Possibly the one recording?)

It's just in beta for a few channels, but let's prepare our complaints already.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
It didn't look terrible from what I could tell. I can only check through my phone right now since YouTube and Reddit are blocked on my school's servers, but Chrome for Android has a force desktop mode for web pages, so I checked it out through that on my phone, and it didn't look that bad.
I'll check it on my desktop when I get home, though.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
It isn't really much worse than the current one, in some aspects I think it's better. But that does not matter. It is our job to complain about everything youtube/google (the new google image search is horrible!) does.

Regardless, there's still little to no customization there like there used to be.kilon wrote:It isn't really much worse than the current one, in some aspects I think it's better.
Channels are barely good for anything now. Heck, they hid the channel comments now, which was extremely stupid.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
So, I just checked it out on my desktop computer, and it looks decent. There's a LOT of whitespace, but I think Google's become obsessed with whitespace as of late, so you can't expect much more there.
The biggest thing I noticed - It looks like someone's profile on a social networking site, rather than a YouTube account. Kinda strange, that.
I'm wondering if it's a step towards completely merging YouTube channels with Google+ accounts. God forbid that becoming mandatory.

Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
If the mandate does happen, I vote an en masse migration to Nicovideo. It's the only option, besides "whore yourself out to corporate fatcats," and, "fade into irrelevance on some forgotten video host at the bottom of the Internet."

i transformed into a half silkworm, half human anime girl, and caught you off guard. l-looks like... looks like you've been... tricked!!!
Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
Speaking of Youtube changing things that don't need to be changed, does anyone know how to make your favorites list public again? My favorites used to be public and there was a video on that list that one of my friends wanted to find again but they can't actually describe the video to me nor view my favorites list anymore. I can edit the list but it doesn't have the same edit screen as a normal playlist which just has two radio buttons along the right for setting it private or public.
Re: Ohno! Youtube changed again!
it's somewhere in your privacy settings, I think... should be in the same options screen where you can determine whether you want your likes, subscriptions and such to be publicly visible. Youtube's inconsistent, and while your favourites list is basically just a playlist, it's not treated as one or works like one in every aspect.

If so, I seem to be either missing an option or I might be blind. I've looked through there probably four or five times now and just can't find anything.

By default it's set so that you have to click through the tabs at the top of the page instead of the comments box just being there.alex2 wrote:No they didn't.
