As someone who uses the watch later playlist function a lot I feel that the new layout on videos is quite nice as it gets rid of that massive bar on the bottom that sometimes glitched out anyway. My only issue is that they removed the ability to get rid of videos from the playlist as you watch them, infact the only way I have found to remove them thus far is to go into the video manager area and remove them there.

I don't like that they've put my real image in the top right rather than my profile picture even though it doesn't show anywhere else.

You know what is really fun. Click on a video. Any video. Okay, now let's say you want to watch another video. You used to be able to just click on a button and boom, the last 20 or so videos where shown for you to pick one. Now you have to click to go to their channel. Then click again on a video, meaning you not only need to click more often, but also need to load an extra page. Improvement? I don't think so.

And yes, you do have the new sidebar to the left, but if you see a video from a search it's pointless and it's not ordered correctly all the time.

Way to go youtube.

Also I can name more things. But mostly it's all just far less convinient and requires more mouse clicks and more loading of pages.

A) The default video setup they have is "What to watch"
B) I can no longer see if someone comments on my videos/sends me a message

I no longer touch the homepage, I have two bookmarks I check every so often in stead, one that takes me to my subscriptions and one that takes me to my inbox. Such an aggravating change.
Wait no, that's the one GOOD change they did.
You get a notification on the home page for messages now, even showing a number for how many there are. (I have yet to see if comment notifications still work) Used to be that you'd have to click on your profile thing to check your inbox, now it's just on the home page.

It's not exactly the best thing though I agree since what to watch is now the main tab... I don't think anybody likes that change.

So let's talk about what they did right though, or at least I will. I like how playlists look and act now:

I also like the guide and how you can browse your subs from the video you're currently on, I know some people aren't liking the alignment change because the guide is there but eh, I think it's an okay feature.

Some of the stuff changed I really like... why? No really, like not even bad design decisions, they just changed it for the sake of changing it. Like the volume slide? I swear to gods it was rounded before this update and now it's square. Um. Point?
It almost feels like they're getting paid for the amount of changes they make to the site, so they have to do stupid, arbitrary things in order to get a good paycheck.

I don't quite follow, I haven't been required to go to anyones home page yet. Also I don't understand the "left alignment" issue as to me the video is in the same place it always was.

Alright. Let's say I'm in my subscription feed and click on the latest raocow video. I havent been watching him for a while and seeing how with Notte Luminosa he is at part 9, I want to go and watch part 1.
Before, you just clicked on his name and the bar opened up where you could go to another video without having to quit the video you are watching right now (ok, only the last couple of videos as there only where 4 pages, but it was something). Now there is no option for that. I can only click on links that bring me to his channel. Thus requiring more mouse clicks.

Okay, so this playlist button exists, as Bwarch showed:
But I've only seen one video where that popped up, and I don't know why. So most of the time it isn't there. Which is bad.

I've also noticed a box on the left side of the video that looks like [...] that's under the three bars that can also show you previous videos of a user, but I'm only getting that on certain pages. raocow is one of them. The fact that it appears to be random or in need of a special link as I have &feature=plcp at the end of his latest video makes it a pain to go through, that's for sure.

That box is dependent on where you came from. If you came from your subscription feed, it shows other videos by people you subscribed to. If you came from a search, it shows other results from that search. If you came from someone's channel, it shows other videos by that user. But also their liked and favorited videos. So far from ideal as well.

AAAAAAHH WHAT THE HECK

Freaking seriously, I'm baffled by the sudden layout change into terribleness. It worked perfectly before, but now it just looks/feels like a mess.

That is all. *late*

If by "before" you mean 2007 or so, then yes. It did work perfectly before.

Edit: Oh, wow. You know what I just realized? YouTube partners' banners above their videos are gone. Haha, now they're screwing over their own partners. Good job, Google!

okay fine,

It worked well enough before

(I haven't actually logged in or anything, I'm purely just reacting to the general layout rather than channel 'features' or what have you)

Pft. Don't even get me started on when they killed channel customization.

Right now your options are pretty much colour and one of these three "layouts":

I should also mention that as of a few hours ago, I can't even upload videos on Firefox. IE works fine. Also, the videos aren't producing in HTML5 mode and defaulting to flash, so that's another strike against that.

Wow seriously, the whole right-half of the screen being empty is... distressing.

So apparently they added that guide to the left side to match the google style. Unfortunately for them, google just moved everything to the top.

At least they matched google's white area to the right. With the difference that that part can actually be used tor page reviews and such.

I found the fix for my problem. If a video gets stuck during the uploading process now, you will be unable to get it going again. Worse, any video you try to upload on that browser will not start whatsoever.

For the fix, you have to delete the history, clear out the cookies, and clean the cache. That will get things working again, but yeah, that's kind of ridiculous.

Where the fuck is the "More videos from X" button

Oh, what's that, it only appears sometimes?

And it you can't load older videos than the ones it shows you?

Seems reasonable

I'm pretty sure you used to be able to see more

The problem is really that it only shows up when it fucking feels like it

You know, it completely makes sense since they did the whole bs with the names and Google merging amd whatnot, but I don't care, this still pisses me off:
http://imgur.com/ufRmJ

In their favor, at least they didn't try to force everybody to use their real name, though they definitely pushed that lovely feature as much as they could.

Just.

Youtube there's a reason usernames are so handy, I don't think you get why.

That 'sign in with your email thing' is especially annoying when you forget which email you connected your account with.

I have something like 6 emails I made for different things and on different websites. I can't keep track of everything.

Seems like they're trying to completely get rid of those good old usernames. First the real name thing, then they added undecipherable number URLs for channels with old usernames (at least, links to the old channel addresses still work), and now this...

No, Youtube, this is not okay.
Fuck you.
Showing "recommended videos" together with my subscriptions.
Fuck you fuck you fuck you.

I don't even need my account there anymore. Haven't uploaded anything in ages and am not going to either. Might as well just close it. The only guy I'm really interested in on there is raocow anyways.

You can use some options to just show uploads. On the left of the screen on your home page click "Subscriptions" and then click the obvious "Uploads only"

It's a pain that that's what they decided to do, but that's that.

You can even bookmark the subscriptions tag and as long as you go directly there, instead of to just the Youtube homepage and THEN there, it'll save the "Just Uploads" option. Going from the home page to subs makes it forget that you clicked "Just Uploads" a thousand million times.
