Nintendo Trying to Give Mario A Voice
So I got an e-mail from Nintendo today, and I saw that there's a game coming out soon called "Fortune Street", which I've never heard of before, so I looked up the trailer for the game, and about 1 minute into the video, you can see that there's a speech bubble over Mario's head, and he's saying something about how he was "warped", but that's not really what this post is about. It's more about the fact that it seems like Nintendo is trying to give Mario a voice.
Yes, I know that he had a voice in the old cartoons, and he says a short little line like "it's-a-me" every now and then, but I never really expected him to speak in full sentences like he's apparently going to be doing in this game.
What are your thoughts on Nintendo giving Mario a voice? I think he should just stay a semi-silent character like he's always been, but maybe I'm the only one. What do you think?

Mario is all play and no say. He really deserves freedom of speech.

I liked doing The Mario.
Re: Nintendo Trying to Give Mario A Voice
He's had bits and pieces in games before, and there have been promo interviews with Mario, like the one from Mario Sports Mix. I'm fine with it.
Re: Nintendo Trying to Give Mario A Voice
That game isn't made by Nintendo, it's made by SquareEnix, who got the rights to make it. They've made a few spinoffs, and some of them have Mario speaking full sentences. Nintendo themselves don't seem to have him talk much, the only time I can remember him doing so is a single line in Luigi's Mansion.

They also don't seem to care about Luigi talking much in certain cases, too. I'm not sure about the first one, because I haven't played it, but in the last two Paper Mario games, Luigi talks a LOT. It's weird.
But once again, Paper Mario isn't even fully made by Nintendo. Intelligent Systems was the main developer for that series.

The only proper way for Mario to communicate is like he did in Super Mario RPG : via weird shapeshifting rebus language.
The nature of the signature is significant and natural.

Re: Nintendo Trying to Give Mario A Voice
In the rpg games people often replied as if he was speaking actual sentences but I felt that it was for the player to imagine how he actually conveyed a message.
Re: Nintendo Trying to Give Mario A Voice
I think Nintendo tries to keep Mario as a perfect "Average Joe" pure blank slate character, so he can have just about any form of communication and personality you imagine him with, since they make his own contributions to any given conversation to a minimum. At least, that's the feeling I always got, even compared to Luigi, who (if I remember correctly) got text-box lines in Mario Galaxy.
Square, though, probably doesn't care, really.

Remember when raocow tried to give a voice to Mario in SMWCP?

That's what I think of it.

I heard about that game. I think I read somewhere that it's like Mario Party without the minigames.
And it's Monopolyesque

That commercial wasn't bad, I liked it, and now know a ton more about the 3DS than I did before. Whoop whoop?

"oh no my best friend was replaced by a evil demon shadow monster"
"argh i am the evil shadow monster demon shadow"
Vip is pronounced "Beep"
nostalgic realtime nitroid let's play playlist

Re: Nintendo Trying to Give Mario A Voice
All of Nintendo's flagship characters should have bad Italian accents
"I'll-a save you, Princess-a Peach! Mama-mia!"
"I'll-a save you, Princess-a Zelda! Cacciatore!"
"I'll-a save you, leetle metroid baby! Neapolitan!"

Jesus. I've had a 3DS since June, and I never knew it had an extendable stylus. Mind = blown.
