If you can't see it then unhide the announcement by pressing 'toggle announcement' at the top of the page, or use the link above to load it directly.

Building

- Use the blocks tab on the right hand side to choose tilesets and blocks to place.
- Left click places a block on the current layer, right click removes a block from the current layer.
- You can change the current layer and whether the block is solid just above the block selection.
- The background and midground layers are below the players, and the foreground is above.
- Hold ctrl and right click to clear every layer of a tile at once.
- Hold ctrl and left click to invert whether the block is solid (so if you have 'solid' unchecked, and you hold ctrl, the blocks you place will be solid)
- You can lock a chunk so that noone else can edit it by clicking the 'lock' button, or mouseover it to see the current chunk you're in and its owner
- Add a friend with /addfriend and they'll be able to modify your chunks

Chat

Press enter to chat in case it isn't obvious.

Commands

/pos - get your current pos (0, 0) is the spawn
/escape - teleport back to the spawn, in case you get stuck or lost
/msg name message - send a private message to someone
/addfriend name - let another player have access to your chunks
/removefriend name

Mechanics
- An object layer, with signs, npcs, and warps

- a map or map explorer. It'd be nice to get an overview of the world or be able to zoom out. Requires some performance improvements first.

I made a sprite at around (94,-44) for funzies. :3c

Wish there was just a page of solid colors so it'd be a tad easier to make sprites but I'll be all right if that doesn't happen. :P

I was mainly joking.

But yeah, it could probably just be a power system. I don't know the kind of effort it would take to make a full on logic system like in Minecraft.

Suggestion: an "Interactions" layer. The "Solid" property could be replaced with defining collision via this layer with additional types of collision tiles (triangle, half-block, etc) along with the warps and other such stuff (maybe signs you can click on to display some text in the chat?)

Ideally the tiles for this layer would only be visible when editing the layer, and if possible when implementing it all solid tiles under the current system would automatically place a solid block on the Interactions layer so folks wouldn't have to redo that stuff after the update.

Some random suggestions;
A in-world tile picker, as in picking a tile that is in the world instead of the regular tile picker. Going through every single page to find the one little thing I need for a single tile when I already has it placed somewhere else is by far the most tedious thing about this whole thing.

Signs. Just to walk over or interact with in some way to display userinputted text.

Resizeable tile picker. Especially when on the fullscreen page most of the pages wouldn't need scrolling anymore if it could take up more space, easing the pain of finding the right thing.

Edit:
Also separating the tileset+solid box+layer box options to it's own box it doesn't scroll with the actual tiles, so less scrolling up and down to change options for tiles in the lower half of the list.

Ah, yeah, an eyedropper tool and a separate window for the dropdowns and options would be fantastic. Also, I didn't see the OP until after making my previous post; since NPCs are planned, they can probably work the same way as my own sign suggestion, speaking through the chat.

...actually, signs could just be NPCs that use a sign sprite for their graphics. And, I mean, that's how it works in RPG Maker -- all signs, chests, NPCs are Event objects.
