There seems to be an interest in tabletop gaming here on the talkhaus, what with a variety of roleplay sessions spawning from the forums. So, after a quick search confirming that there wasn't a thread for this already, I figured, "Why not post a discussion thread for those who like pen and paper RPGs, board games, and miniatures games?" Yeah, I'm a nerd... Here ya go:
RPGs
So aside from playing one Mr. Roderick Kilderry in the #talkhausofcthulhu Sunday game, I play in two groups in real life and run one, as well. Currently, I'm playing a World of Darkness character named Tesh Smithson who lives in a fantasy world and is a pretty dang good blacksmith, but thinks she's the best seamstress in the world (much to the chagrin to her father and the GM). Unfortunately, this blast of a campaign is ending, and we'll be playing 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons (where I'll be playing the fighter Axel "Twin Picks" Scalise). My other character in Exalted (which is my least favorite game system ever... seriously)is the god-powered love child of Captain Linebeck and Jack Sparrow, Derwin "Killer Frost" Kellam. Pants on head has happened, probably as a reaction against the system. Finally, I'm running a 5th ed DnD campaign set in the 1930s but in fantasy land! It's been a treat, let me tell ya.
Boardgames
Honestly, I don't have as large a collection as some people I know; recently been enjoying the Firefly board game, Dixit, and Betrayal at House on the Hill. Reeeeally want a copy of Cards Against Humanity, but I'm broke. =__=
Miniatures
This hobby has slowly been overtaking my video gaming. Mainly been playing a system called Warmachine/Hordes, which is kinda steampunky. I mainly play the dwarves in the Mercenaries faction, because heck yeah, steampunk dwarves. Been standing at the edge of the Warhammer pool, dunking my toes in, but not wanting to take the plunge. The latest bruhaha with GW's Fantasy system has made me laugh a little; mostly schadenfreude, but a little out of wonder and wanting to play the system. We shall see. Have a few other minis from different games here and there, but nothing too major.
