Well, I'm sure we'll think of something. Maybe we'll retire the two other characters for now and, after the first step of the side quest is done, allow the game to progress as a three person investigation.
Just... expect worse risks. Even a group of 5 is far from safe.

Well, if you ask me, the difference in pacing comes from us approaching the two games differently and also the flavour.
The main game we've been quite careful and paranoid, taking our time to gather clues before facing the great ancient evil, because the direct approach may not work here. Around the time we switched to the side-mission, we had some vague idea of a cult (?), a vague reference to said ancient evil, a ritual that may or may not contain whatever we're up against, and the time pressure of a house that could collapse on us at any moment and release said evil. The timescale is in days, roughly. If it were a movie, it'd be psychological thriller.
The side quest on the other hand, we've treated with relatively reckless abandon, since we pretty much all grabbed guns and broke in immediately, and ruthlessly started tearing apart the house. We haven't the faintest idea what we're up against or how to kill it, but we're hoping it responds well to bullets like everything else. We've already nearly died a few times, and if we take any longer, we'll have to deal with less ancient and completely non-evil police. The timescale may be anywhere from hours to minutes. If it were a movie, it'd be a slasher film.
I really want to finish the main game, because it'd be really unsatisfying to just leave it as is, without a proper conclusion or ending. Even if the ending turns out "All of you are swallowed alive by Giant Black Dogs with 20 Eyes." But I also want to finish the side-mission first, because it feels like we're close to the ending right now.

In the last session of the side-adventure we mess around in a scary basement, shrug and then burn the house down.

Oh, crud. I'm going to have to sit this week out.
Sorry for bringing it up on such short notice, some stuff came up.
*Sigh*, looks like it might take a bit longer to get back to the main gig.

Hey, it's fine. Real life always has and should have more priority than a D&D-esque online game-session thingy.

Hmm, that means 2 players... ah, and I haven't been able to produce that promised recap of the main storyline either.
How about we stretch on to next week? I think I need to put some serious effort into restructuring the past events, because there are so many leads and venues of investigation scattered around right now that lacking re-cap, you might all be doomed.
Yeah, let's do that. Today's game is cancelled. We'll aim for next Sunday.

Alright! Yesterday was a bit subdued, but next week, I'll do better! 16:00 GMT! Sunday! Let's Cthulhu!

It seems there's some internet trouble in my area. I lost all of last night's game due to complete outage, so in case you don't see me around IRC at game-time, assume the worst. :(
I can't believe I pay 40€ a month for this.

Well, that went about as typically as one might expect. Sorry, chaps. I hope it'll work more reliably next week.

Oh, right, the whole clock twiddly business. I was under the assumption that we would go by GMT again, GMT 16:00?
edit: For now, I think the best priority is "arrive when you can". It didn't occur to me earlier enough that this actually might be a big inconvenience to other players. In fact, I didn't remember the darn thing 'til I woke up today.

So! 16:00 GMT, on Sunday. Howzat?
Also, how is everyone? Are you satisfied with the resumption of the original plotline? Any thoughts?

I may or max not appear today since I visit my grandma. If I don't show up, turn me into a cardboard cutout.

Will do. I'm personally feeling a bit queasy due to medication issues, too, so we'll see what to do in an hour or so.

Oh, that reminds me - let me know if you want to roll a substitute character for Al at some point.

Woot! That's rockin'. I'd usually want to be present when rolling the stats, but everything seems to be in order with the sheet, so I'll waive that personal rule for now.
