Re: the Official Baseball thread
The Rangers have been pretty crummy as of late, too. Blah. There's a lot of misery in this thread as of late.
By the way, I'm definitely going to make an official football thread when that rolls around. I'd make one for the NFL Draft next week, but I kind of doubt there'd be much interest.

Wow wtf? Didn't expect that. Good thing they got off to a good start. I'm sure they'll turn it around soon!
I was checking the standings, and as terrible has the Jays have been lately, somehow, they're only 2 games back from first place in the AL East. And they're the only ones with a positive run differential. Given they were 10 games back this time last season, I'll say they've improved a lot. Now if their bullpen could just be consistent...

Re: the Official Baseball thread
Braves will turn it around. Their Achilles' heel over the last generation has been that RISP thing anyway. Cards are still somehow treading water in spite of playing 21 of their first 33 on the road and having one of their starting pitchers out. That franchise is amazingly competent. Meanwhile, the Cubs are still in last, but they're trying to not slip farther away from the rest of the pack as best they can.

Re: the Official Baseball thread
A baseball thread? Awesome. I need to start exploring Talkhaus more.
As I'm originally from Arizona, I'm a big Diamondbacks fan. Damn shame they're, uhh, one of the worst team in baseballs this year. I'm not expecting any miracle comebacks, either, with their godawful pitching. I mean, dear lords, that team usually has *good* pitching, but April was an absolute *disaster* for them.
I also like the Red Sox, Mariners, Brewers, and Braves. The Sox are underwhelming thus far, but not too bad I guess. They'll pick it up eventually. Surprised that the Mariners and Brewers have been doing so good (even if the former is only just so), and surprised at the Braves' absolute freefall of late. They lost what, eight in a row at one point? Yeesh.
Also, I have this... extreme, extreme hatred of the Cardinals. They've always done these little irritating things against teams I've liked over the years, and I've always found it so utterly bizarre that they can seemingly take any third-rate nobody or over-the-hill has-been and turn him into a legitimate superstar, especially in the postseason. But then as soon as he gets some huge contract somewhere else, he goes right back to (or *starts*, if he was never with another team), well, sucking. Even though he's picked it up this year, the last couple of years, it was absolutely jarring to see Albert Pujols perform so thoroughly mediocre on the Angels.

I see your cubs decided to kill the cardinals after being swept by my Bravos, bean

Re: the Official Baseball thread
That's what they do! They beat the Cards about 50-50 and then lose around two out of three to everyone else!
Re: the Official Baseball thread
Ah, the Cards get home and start to remember they've been in the NLCS the last three years now.

Cards have played like the least amount of home games in the league I think, or are pretty close to that.

They definitely have until this homestand, for sure. It was 26 of the first 38 on the road. Pretty amazing they hung around .500 with that tough start.

Re: the Official Baseball thread
That appears to be the thing they do. They look generally unimpressive on paper, and individually they're nothing special, but they just... find ways to win. I respect that team... I just don't *like* that team. (I'm also a bit of a Cubs fan, myself)Bean wrote:They definitely have until this homestand, for sure. It was 26 of the first 38 on the road. I dunno if anyone follows the Detroit Tigers, but as much of a fan as anyone was of Leyland, the Tigers have been doing better this year with a new manager even though their team is considerably "okay." I do suppose it helps that the Tigers still have Miguel Cabrera.

It also helps that their infield defence has improved along with Kinsler outproducing Fielder right now.

Always awesome to beat Boston~
So, how about Tanaka losing his first game of the season...to the Cubs. It's always the team you don't expect. (Unless the Yankees make a comeback)

Re: the Official Baseball thread
The only time in franchise history prior to now that the Red Sox went winless in a home stand of 6+ games was June 10-15, 1994 (0-6).
Quite the stat.
