I've grown to like the Cardinals since they renovated their older stadium back in the mid-90s. Of course, I think that's when they started to win or get exciting anyway. Cubs keep teetering on that double digits game back line, and the Cards are looking like they'll be in first place barring a collapse in another couple of weeks.

As for teams I don't like, both the Cub and Card fan in me rolls my eyes at the Reds. They haven't won a playoff series since 1995, but hey, go on and act like you're World Champions.

I blame 2013. I keep expecting the worst. Last time I checked, Fangraphs has the Jays as a 58% chance of making the post season. Here's hoping they don't blow it.

That's pretty brutal. I honestly thought they'd turn it around against Tampa (and was really hoping they would because to hell with any team that would willingly keep Josh Lueke on their roster),

While I'm not actually a Blue Jays fan (they're one of many teams I'm neutral towards), I'd actually find it pretty interesting if they made it to the postseason. Since I started watching baseball in 2002, the Jays are one of the few teams I've not yet seen make it there in any form (the others being the Royals and, sadly, the Mariners... amazingly, *every* other team has made it at least once since then). I like diversity among the postseason, especially when you get something fun like, half the teams (or more!) being unlikely small market ones, and the World Series being something completely off the wall, like 2005, where we had White Sox and Astros. ESPN and FOX, and their obsessive love of only about 10 of the 30 MLB teams, can suck it. :P

Just watching Adam Wainwright pitch is great. That dude is one of the best pitchers in the league. Maybe this will be the year he finally wins the Cy Young. I still think he deserved it in 2009 with that 19-win season. Would have been 20 if the bullpen hadn't blown a huge lead on the last day of the season for him.

That's second game against the rays I was watching as they went 5 up in the first inning and I finally thought the streak would be over... nope. Then we lost yesterday's game too. Maybe we'll have better luck against the A's

Losing 6-1 in the fourth inning to the Braves... unless there's a miracle rally, it's looking like eleven straight. God damn, what has *happened* to the Red Sox?

So. Here's something that... totally happened today.

Yovani Gallardo hit a walk-off double, giving the Brewers an extra inning win over the Orioles.

... Gallardo is a *pitcher*.

Baseball is a *weird* game sometimes.

Not as weird as Ben Revere getting a home run. There goes everything that was remarkable about him. Now he's just a normal dude who has no power.

...so, after losing ten straight, the Red Sox have now *won* five straight. Peaks and valleys, much?

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have seen their long winning streak end, dropping the last two games to... the Royals. Sure, sweep three good teams, then lose to a running gag of a team.

I reiterate: Baseball is a *weird* game sometimes.

Not to mention the Jays gave up TWO home runs to them tonight. And the Astros are now on a 7 game win streak.

Oh well. I'm not terribly worried since the O's and Yanks lost as well. I just want them to at least be competitive all the way to the end this year for once.

The Red Sox have lost two three in a row (and may lose a third straight) since winning seven in a row since losing ten in a row.

The Braves have also adopted a "sweep or be swept" policy.

The Mariners have been beating everyone lately... except the lowly Astros.

The Yankees have been getting decimated.

The Rays have one of the worst records in baseball.

And the Diamondbacks just destroyed the Rockies by scoring 12 runs in the last three innings.

...

Baseball!

The Jays have swept every single 2013 AL playoff team. This is....fun? It's feels like so long. But I'm still paranoid after 2009. It helps that the Red Sox are being super streaky and the Rays are tanking hard (good for them *cough*fuckLueke*cough*)

Not to mention the Jays had only been shut out once all season before the weekend.
