So uh, if there are any EarthBound fans in here, I found a hack of it called EquestriaBound:

(you can either download the IPS and patch it to a rom, or the Equestria Daily link has a pre-patched rom available...)

Pretty much EarthBound with a pony skin, starring Dinky and the Cutie Mark Crusaders as the playable characters. There's actually custom music for a lot of the major areas (the main theme for Onett/North Ponyville, Smile Smile Smile for Twoson/South Ponyville...), although it's rather bare-bones and there are a number of tunes I don't recognize at all. While it'd be cooler if it was an actual original story and such, I acknowledge that hacking EB at all is an achievement because of its nightmarish coding, so... yeah. Still I think it's worth it just for the sake of playing EB again, since it's been quite a while since I last did.
Surprisingly I'm finding that there's not nearly as much grinding required as I initially thought (I always considered EarthBound to be a huge grind-fest, at least through the first half or so), so I suppose I've been playing the game 'wrong' the whole time! So far I've reached up to the desert, so I don't know yet what late-/end-game changes have been made yet.

Well yeah, reskins are for very specific audiences. Either people who have never experienced a game and need that extra "push" to want to experience it with something familiar, or those who need a slightly different experience in order to play the game again because they don't want just the same thing.

If you already have a love for the game and you love it just how it is then yeah, not for you~

Saw Rainbow Rocks~ Really nifty just for all the good songs and to see Sunset built as a character. She was definitely my favorite part of the whole thing I think.

The overarching plot was EHHHHH kinda meh, new villain slot was EHHHHH. The whole story bit was just kind of underwhelming I think. But it was certainly worth watching just for all the adorable moments that happened. And good musics. Dat soundtrack.

The reality is that no one expected what was to come next. Ranging from 4 thrilling seasons, 2 fantastic movies, over 1.5 Million comics sold, a huge array of fan websites, conventions and gatherings as far as the eye can see and much much more.

I never want it to end. I'm still having fun with everything that has been coming out. Even if I probably won't rewatch Rainbow Rocks anytime soon (For not finding the story tooo interesting) I've been listening to the soundtrack a lot and getting enjoyment out of that.

I'm honestly hoping that at some point they do end FiM and pull a Korra. Lots of the same staff and everything, same style and universe, but a focus on new and different characters who can present another dynamic and prevent the writers from running out of ideas (because it's important to remember that that's a thing)

I wouldn't mind too much, but the thing is that unlike with Avatar MLP has a history of getting rebooted. And when it reboots, it's nowhere near the same as the previous generation, even with having similarly named characters.

Also. A reboot would probably mean the grown up CMC being the mains if they kept along the same universe. Yeah no don't want that.

But I don't think it's anywhere in sight. They've got smooth sailing for quite a while until a lot of the fandom and revenue dies off for the franchise. They can just keep on making comics, seasons and toys for the current gen and be happy. Anything else would just be a bad move on their part to risk when they don't have to. Plus that investor's meeting last year where they said they planned out the next five years of the franchise. The money has to drop before they'll even consider anything Korra-esque, and it's just not gonna happen for quite a while.

Everybody's said at various points that they're done and they're leaving and the show is dead (At the end of season 2, 3, and 4 in fact...) buuuut money is still coming in from the vast majority.

Trust me, I'm definitely not one of those guys. I just would like to see the show go gracefully when the time comes in the distant future, instead of becoming a franchise zombie.

I'm still eager for more. Season 4 proved that the writers still had plenty up their sleeves, even after how up and down S3 was, so I'm optimistic for S5.

Discorderlyconduct (a former ask blog) recently rebooted as just a straight up story blog and it's been the best damn thing.

Their art has gotten SO GOOD, and the story is really interesting and of course I'm really happy seeing hijinks from Chrysalis and Discord since they're two of my favorite characters and jdsfjdfhja. The art style is just amazing with how expressive they are with the characters and how the artist's style affects their designs, like Chrysalis being long and lanky.



Just goddamn it's so pretty and unique.

Edit: Also I've just been informed the latest strip totally references Psychonauts, and I found out myself that the golden apple with a K on it totally refers to greek myth.

It's worth noting immediately the "Owned by" in the sidebar, with 40% to Hasbro and 60% to Discovery Communications. This makes me think that depending on the show, it will answer to one or the other. I think it's safe to assume all the cartoons still belong to Hasbro. Therefore you're still going to see the show controlled in how it is set up every now and then. IE the princesses being princesses when they were supposed to be queens.

All that's going to change is there might, MIGHT, be a better commercial lineup. Hub was pretty notorious for having pretty crappy commercials, some of them going viral with the FiM community like gak.

OH LOOK IT'S THE THING EVERYBODY WANTED IN THE BEGINNING.

I liked Equestria Girls but can we talk about how weird it is to go with a spinoff universe FIRST for the movies. (And don't you dare say "it's not a spinoff, it's in the same universe and it's canon and everyth-" DON'T.)

I'm a little bit edgy about somebody not on the show writing for it, but I guess we'll just have to see how it works out. Be fun to see a full on movie with enough time to have some real development and tension. Please for the love of god if you go with the villain/villainess formula have them be actually interesting this time.
