It doesn't suck.
Imagine streets of rage, or double dragon, or teenage mutant ninja turtles: turtles in time, but with updated graphics and in MMO form. Also, a hell of a lot of classes, each with their own unique skills and combos.
Here's what you do: go into dungeons, find your way to the boss's square (marked on the map) and then beat the boss. Easy, right? More importantly, fun. You don't grind in this game. You have a good time with some bros from the irc, or maybe make a party and find new friends. It is never boring. You don't just mash x to win, especially after level 18. How do you level up? Well, that's simple. Quests. A shitload of them. The point of the game is to advance the story through epic quests, and you gain more as you level up. Epic quests generally give you better rewards than normal quests, however, there are some normal quests with quite good rewards. I suggest doing every quest, as some quests are chains, where you must unlock other quests by beating them in order. Quests will be your main, if not only, experience source. I think the first "grind" is level 23, where you run out of quests midway through.
Multiplayer: the major part of an MMO, right? Well, DFO uses a pretty annoying, yet at the same time useful system called P2P or peer to peer connection. This means that you guys are connecting to everyone in your party to complete a dungeon. If one person is lagging, you're all lagging. You could just complete every dungeon solo to avoid lag completely, but what's the fun in that?
Player versus player is a huge part of the gameplay experience. Starting at level 10, you can join the pvp channels to increase your pvp rank. While this has no effect on your actual character, it's fun to show off your rank to other people, and higher ranked characters can go into higher ranked arenas. You can win victory points when participating in a match, which you can use to buy rare and useful items for your character. Give it a try some time.
There are five main classes: Slayer, Fighter, Mage, Priest, and Gunner. All of the classes are good in their own way. I don't feel like writing huge paragraphs about each class and their subclasses, so I'll just list them now and edit shit in later.

Also, feel free to tell me if there's anything I got wrong, or something I can add. Ask any questions, me, TT, and Argumentable will be sure to help you.

Notes: You must launch the game from the website, it doesn't work in folder.
To launch DFO in windowed mode, create a new folder in your dfo directory called zo3mo4.
P.S. yes Blinx can make posts that aren't shitposts or trolling, I'm not a complete ass (or am I)
