hahahaha, oh shit, I never thought yoshi would interract that way with those blocks!

Oh man.

Ahh, is there a way to force a no yoshi sign on a level at the start?

You can do that with the correct tilesets (I'm not sure which ones those are.)

When you go to the change index of graphics, for the foreground and background graphics, theres a thingy by it that says T1 T2 or whatever. Rope, castle, and ghost house tilesets have that. But you might need to go to change other properties and see if "disable no yoshi entrance" is ticked. If it is untick it. Now if you want to use any graphics tilesets instead of rope ghost house or castle, use the super gfx bypass.

Sorry, very vague.

Woah, you can still kill them? How? (the real stage won't have a yoshi)

Unless you changed it, sliding into them (you can fix that with tweaker) hitting the invisible coin blocks or breaking the breakable blocks when they're near

well, at least for the sliding part, those arc bits are ugly as hell and I have to remove them.

Woot I beat the intro screen... and some levels. But this has inspired me to make a harder hack based on IWBTG

just curious as to how you made those elevator things

I was looking back in this thread and saw this. There is this freaking huge discussion thread about it on SMWC right now, and every single person that posted said that there is nothing wrong with upside down water.

It's still apparently a huge problem for the peeps actually filtering the hacks!

I could probably fill a thread about what I dislike about SMWC's opinions (that probably aren't even actually true)

Not gonna lie, I'm rather curious.

People who might read this who are higher ups at SMWCentral: no personal offense, but there are things I do not agree with!

I don't know if a "Lets hate on SMWC" topic would be cool but if you wanna start it I can accuse them of things

I would actually love to hear what you guys think about SMWC. I just want to know what bugs you guys about them so much.
I guess I should say 'us'. :P

But seriously, someone start that topic. For the floating water thing, I've only seen it in the removal log once, and I talked to a different mod on the IRC about it and he said, 'I do not agree in the slightest. As long as it's graphically good, who cares?.'

Anyways, let's try to get back on topic.

Okay.

They take everything way too seriously now. I blame the overabundance of really bad SMW romhacks. The regulars in the community are probably sick of the endless terrible romhacks and assorted idiots, so they invented a lot of really dumb design rules, like "don't make your first world a grassland". Now it ends up stifling creativity because everyone is too serious about it, so you can't even use some upside down water. The impression I get is that the pinnacle of SMW level design is SMB3/SMWREX/SMW Omega style straightforward hills/pipes/enemies/coins, aka looks good but is repetitive and forgettable.

Have to agree with that. I have a lot more fun with hacks that just don't make sense, and present challenges and ideas that don't necessarily have to be justified by anything.

Super Mario Bros. 3 had upside down lava... is that game banned from SMW Central? And what about Mario Galaxy, they had upside down Water, is that banned too?

Seriously, the rules are pretty stupid. I can understand that they want to block off all the terrible romhacks... but seriously, there are other ways to prevent such things.

Guys, we went over this, you CAN use upside down water. That was just one mod saying that you couldn't and the rest of the mods were like, ':O'. I didn't like SMO as much as the more gimmicky hacks such as Keytastrophe, RttC, etc. Also, not making your first world a grassland isn't a RULE, you won't get a hack removed for it, but it's if you want to have a unique hack, you wouldn't start with something EVERYONE starts with.

Also,

"Cutoff from stone in lava"
That 1 pixel really ruined this guy's hack, didn't it.

Also, insert generic comment about raocow's hack being too hard.
