I am well aware that I probably coined the term Slab but I dunno I keep changing my mind on what to call it. It'll probably be a Monolith tomorrow or something.

btym, I keep meaning to ask - when we get all our crap back, do you think it would be a fun idea for me to set up small airships in various areas and have warps to each of them? I was thinking of setting up a sort of airline building on the Slate with some airships around it, and I think it would be a cute idea to add some functionality to the whole thing.

Apparently hmod, which we need for the commands, won't be updated before Feb 28th so the 28th, 1st or maybe 2nd of March would be a good indication.

Anyway, I'm gonna be rethinking the minecart rails we have tomorrow. I got like a crapload of iron now thanks to chdata, and I think the whole setup could stand to be a little more streamlined. If anyone wants some rails near them, let me know and try to give me a good idea of its location. For the time being though, I'm only going to have one rail out to the Slate - everyone camped near there, you're gonna have to extend it on your own dime if I don't have a lot of extras. (What else were you going to use that iron for, anyway?)

That's actually a good idea. Like a main line with 2 tracks (for both directions) and then smaller lines to the different places that aren't connected by the main line. And a nice station at Slab city.
hmm, maybe I could build the station.. not sure.

But for me, with the lag, minecarts don't work as I can't get in before the carts fly away. So I prefer lots of warp points.

Also, we have a map now! Turns out we were pretty shafted in the tundra biome department after all. Nothing significant in that icecap behind my house... God knows why.

Lag doesn't actually affect the minecarts, you just have to play around the lag(so don't wait for cause and effect to play out to perform all the actions you should need to do to use one). What I've found that works is you stand behind the half-block, putting it between you and the minecart. Drop the minecart on the track. Run forward at the minecart, and right click on it when you've run over it. It should give you enough of a push to get the cart off of the platform, and get you into the minecart before it hits the first booster(which I'm gonna try making sure is right next to, and a block below, each station platform from now on).

You have to stand behind the half-block so you don't accidentally bump the cart just by merely existing; this is usually what causes most carts to sail off into the distance, which inadvertantly prevents the track from working as it stops dead in the middle and cuts off your momentum.

What fascinates me is that a lot of people have seemingly started constructions waaaaaay out of the way, like what appears to be a wall of some sort in the far north-west.

And if we're looking at the same bridge, I think that leads to Troy; I got really confused when I followed someone out there, and I'm a little amazed to see it's only a few ticks north of the City. Unfortunately, it's still really damn far out there... We'll see how many rails I have left.

In any event, I don't think I'm going to HUGELY restructure the rail system now, since looking at it, whoever put it up before did put a fair amount of work into it(lots of thankless digging has been done for some areas), but there are some major rails we need to have that we don't have yet... And I can't think of any efficient ways to put them in without changing at least a few paths.


Thankfully my tower project has driven me batty, so I'm basically doing this just to have a break from carving my mountain area down.
