Super Talking Time Bros was made by a bunch of people from the forums at gamespite.net, where I hang out. It isn't actually a romhack, it's a level pack made for a Windows-only Mario engine called Super Mario Bros X.
The idea was instead of making a romhack and falling into all the usual romhack traps, we'd do our best to make a fun, accessible Mario adventure. I think we did pretty well, all things considered.
You can download Super Talking Time Bros from one of the mirrors right here. There are 110 exits!
It's built for SMBX version 1.3 or higher, so make sure that's installed first.
To install Super Talking Time Bros as an SMBX episode, unzip it into the "worlds" directory of your SMBX installation. You should have a new folder there called "Super Talking Time Bros". Now, when you start a new game in SMBX, you can choose this episode!
Here is a thing you should know to solve a bug in SMBX:
Due to lazy programming, SMBX defaults to your system codec for its audio. For a lot of you, it'll be something like FFDShow. Because of the way SMBX handles sound effects, it means there's a chance it will flood your tray with dozens of codec instances and eventually slow down the game and your system. To fix this, you need to adjust your codec in its control panel to run only one multiple instance (or if that doesn't work, turn off multiple instances entirely) before playing SMBX.
Now if there's any reason you can't play this game, you can still check it out. A video Let's Play has just started, courtesy of Talking Time forumgoer Brickroad. He'll be getting all 110 exits, and his rapid-fire commentary is pretty sharp and informative.
