Paper Mario 64 Discussion
When I walk into Merlon's house, it flashes. Any way to fix this?

Re: Paper Mario 64: Merlon's House
N64 emulation isn't complete yet like how NES emulation is. There are a lot of games wherein the emulation simply cannot properly present the game. Paper Mario is the usual example of this nowadays.
Use an accuracy-focused emulator or play on hardware.

How did you know I was using an emu?

Re: Paper Mario 64: Merlon's House
Virtual Console is an emu. Nintendo just knows what they're doing and doesn't use the Plugin System that most N64 emulators use (so a lot of the graphical problems don't happen, though there is still slowdown where there shouldn't be).
With that said, there are configurations that can minimize the issues, but I need to know some details about your setup first. What is your operating system (including whether it's 32-bit or 64-bit) and what emulator are you using.
I mean I'm probably going to end up suggesting you switch to BizHawk either way but it helps to know what the starting point is.

In fairness, a 3DS port of the original Paper Mario (or at least N3DS-ported VC Paper Mario) would be a really handy time sink.

but seriously though, since this thread is now a general PM64 discussion: I tried running a loading zone randomizer of it but I have reason to believe it was built with a specific emulator in mind as I'm not seeing any transition randomizing under BizHawk\Mupen64Plus.

Loading zone randomizer? Cool, I might land in Bowser's castle at the beginning of the game! Or if I'm lucky, I might land in the parade! (*_*)-=iii=<()raekuul wrote: ↑6 years ago playing paper mario crashes paper mario

When you say "help", what do you mean? That's pretty vague, do you mean help with emulator problems? Help with the actual gameplay itself?
Uh...Do I just sign here? What do you mean it should be obvious? There are people in this world...well...a whole lot of people that can't follow basic instructions!

Did you find the super boots? The record disc? The weight? The way into the basement? Just look in every door if you're really stuck.

Re: Paper Mario 64 Discussion
When I (Peach) am being interviewed by Bowser to see what Mario hates, do I have to be honest? I (Mario) failed thanks to honesty.

No, Bowser is a gullible dude who will do exactly as you say.
