high concept's still dumb, editing is likely to blame for the tone of the trailer (and i doubt they've significantly recut the film to make it less of what the initial trailer looked like) but what a change

they've saved it from the brink of disaster, now it only teeters on the edges of mediocre and embarrassing - so very in keeping with the Sonic Franchise overall!
Nah in all honesty I'm pretty happy with this. Dialogue's still rubbish but they saved my boy.

Hot take: The movie was always going to be enjoyable no matter what because of Carrey's Robotnik.
Still clearly an upgrade, though.

Now instead of being an unfunny cashgrab with a horribly ugly main character, it's merely and unfunny cashgrab with a slightly less horribly ugly main character.

Honestly the dialogue and humor in this trailer is just the right degree of corny for my tastes, and often I find that lines being showcased in a movie's trailer work better in context. All in all this seems pretty promising.
I was still interested in seeing this even back when the first trailer came out. Carrey's Robotnik will be awesome, and it's got Colonel Tigh from RDM's BSG!
It looks *way* better now. Get hype!

im honestly not expecting any game for this year
also i just wanna say that as someone who enjoys the adventures and rose!heroes (i haven't played team sonic, dark or chaotix in literal years and i hate the special stages) i really can't stand people who go "we can't criticize or put up with any sort of criticism of sonic even if it's constructive or tongue-in-cheek else sega will kill 3d sonic and make sure the series stays 2d/boost and only star classic sonic and eggman with tails in the background"
we go through the same song and dance with every game grumps lp and ign review and it's really unbearable for everyone involved
disclaimer:
the ratings on my backloggery are outdated af those are from like a long time ago when i still didnt enjoy sa2 at all outside of The Good Shit and also ps2 heroes more like ps2 zeroes (from x7) pwned

Well, there was sort of something that happened last year that probably changed plans up. Even though I'm not too high on Sega, I think it's okay to cut them a little slack there.

only a compilation i guess. apparently s3&k will be in widescreen unlike what the trailer implied and it's also going to be the widescreen ports? so i guess there will be some effort
sonic origins is also really funny since that (and sonic synergy) were one of the prototype names of sonic boom RoL, origins was from when it was focusing on the start of sonic and eggboy's relationship
there is a tweet i once saw that was like "when sega doesn't show gameplay on their sonic trailer assume it's mediocre or terrible" and honestly
