Surprised there's not a thread for this already.
I'm not the only one here who's been enjoying the heck out of this game, right?

I gotta say, Lucio is way too much fun to play.

If any of you guys have been playing Overwatch, we should group up some time, wreck some randos.

Sentinel#12755, by the way.

I don't have it, but every time I see Tracer, I'm reminded of Garnet/Dagger from Final Fantasy IX. It's totally the orange in the outfit.

I just had the best ult as Rein.
Ulted but a Junk used the mine to launch me high up, came down on 4 of them like motherfucking Thor> Fireball > Catch the ulted Torb. Quad kill while my team finished off the Junk and Mercy for Team Kill.

PotG was Soldier 76 aimbot ult.

The highlight in my menu is some crappy Junkrat spam I did in the previous round.

That moment is lost forever. my most satisfying ult...

Just finished my 10 placement matches, and got a 53 ranking in comp. Who's everyone else's ranking?

I placed at 47, got up to 49, was literally like an inch from 50...
Everything went WAY downhill.

Dropped all the way to 41

Even in competitive, people still seem allergic to the objective. I can't remember the last time I didn't have gold in objective time.

alright, got 5 of my placement matches done. 2 won, 3 lost.

I only lost one thanks to a Bastion in Attack. It's like you're playing a 5v6.

I've only played a few games on my account because I super suck with mouse and keyboard controls so I get frustrated. Still, if anybody wants to add and play rando games, hit me up! I'll try not to be awful!

"defend from the point. Don't go running off to the door and dying."

"That's a horrible idea, you're giving them the entire walk to the point for free!"

"lol then if you die at the door you have the entire way to run back."

"If we give them the entire path to the point for free then if we die, we have the entire way to run back, PLUS THEY'RE ON THE POINT!"

"go back to casuals you clearly don't know how to play ranked"
Guess how well this little plan went over. Guess what Mr. Strategist over here decided to blame for that little result.

I have never felt so stupid by mere proxy of sharing a team with someone. Hell, by my entire team thinking that was at all a sensible idea.
Normally I don't like pulling the "My team is shit; I'm the only one who knows how to play the game here" bullcrap, but goddamn if that wasn't the WORST team I have ever had the misfortune to get paired with.
I'm really starting to wish Blizzard hadn't removed the Avoid feature.

Hate to tell you, but I entirely agree with him on this one.

On defensive maps you want to identify the best defensive location prior to the point and defend from there. Most Capture maps and some Hybrid maps feature deliberate chokepoints that it's very easy for the defense to clog up and prevent a push through. If you pass those chokepoints and fight beyond them not only do you lose the advantage you are given by that chokepoint, but are you are actually fighting at a huge disadvantage because you have put the point of combat far closer to their spawn than yours. In effect, every kill they get will be far more valuable than every kill you get. Then all they have to do is win a fight (with the advantage they have been given) and they can cross the chokepoint for free since your team is dead. Numbani doesn't have a particularly good chokepoint to defend but at the very least you should be fortifying an area where you're not at a distinct disadvantage, as it's very hard to re-fortify an area once it's lost. If you form your defense around the area right near the enemy spawn, your defensive line will be broken, and the actual control point will not be fortified.

Yeah. Defending Numbani first I've found it easier to defend the point itself. You can try and defend by the second bus, I always find it too awkward to hold there since it's a corner (and holding by the first bus is just too close to spawn).

From my time playing TF2, the strategy was always to hold either the point itself or a chokepoint, and if you lose the fight, you give the ground up and regroup and the next point or choke. So far playing Overwatch, it seems that mostly holds true here as well (though I have found it easier on OW to solo contest a point)
