kinda late but, whats the source of the halloween patch being a thing anyways

Apparently it was leaked a bit at some point, and there were a bunch of halloween-y aesthetic changes here and there.

all ive seen is a bunch of screenshots of a halloweeny grillby's and the uploader referring to "the leaked patch that's been out there", while i cant find any mention of said leaked patch anywhere else

I'd actually expected them to advertise this a little more. According to here it happens when you set computer's date to October 31. However it's almost 1.11 here already. It might have not been legit probably.

Edit: It does look pretty convincing though, and I remember seeing it on the developer's twitter or somewhere too.

The genocide run isn't worth it. Some people just like to have fun with the bosses, but if you don't want to go through all of the crud just to fight them, then don't play genocide. Nothing is truly rewarding if you play genocide.

I still haven't done a No Mercy run, and probably won't be doing one of those either. I did watch someone play through it though, so I'm not completely unspoiled either. Edit: The challenge is a little tempting too.

I did a genocide run because I joined my friend's stream for it. He wasn't going to, but then he watched a run of it

where Flowey makes the snarky comment about people watching but not being able to go through with it.

It made him determined to do it after that and I joined him for the ride.

I also did it with me cousin later because he loves doing "asshole runs" of games when he has the option.

I managed to avoid the jump scare, but I totally got dunked on...

because people are for some reason convinced that the term "genocide" is inherently evil or something (even though that's literally what you're committing in the run??? like ive seen the arguments that it doesnt fit because genocide is inherently systematic and mechanical but... the entire point of the run is that it is systematic and mechanical????? literally the definition of genocide is "the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group" which is exactly what you're doing????????? you're missing the point if you're trying to "soften" what the run is)

genocide implies one cultural group exterminating another, and in this case the perpetrator is an individual person with no cohorts who is also implied to kill everything besides monsters. you could apply the term genocide to the human-monster war, but what chara is doing is a large scale homicide. im using the term no mercy because of how laden the "genocide run" is with holocaust jokes due to that one playthrough of it early on in undertale's lifespan.

its p shitty that that one lp was laden with holocaust jokes but like... it was referred to as "genocide run" before that lp by toby himself. And I mean, the term doesnt inherently mean group vs group, that's just the way it manifests in real life cuz... as callous as it sounds, that's the easiest way to commit it.
