Super Mario Maker: Talkhaus Level Exchange
Re: Super Mario Maker: Talkhaus Level Exchange
whee. uploaded another level.
it is more or less a recreation of a SMW level, but a certain technical limitation allowed me to channel an old meme.

I suppose I'll make Cannon Climb my featured level. It's had the most plays and stars and comments of any of my levels.

Re: Super Mario Maker: Talkhaus Level Exchange
People have said that the Boos in Stop Following Me! aren't really a threat, I kinda realized that in playtesting so I guess the problem is the name bigging them up more than is justifiable. They were supposed to be the main gimmick at first but that kinda faded into the background. They can get quite far up your ass if you neglect them.
As long as it's a fun level to play it's fine ultimately

Ha, I was going to make something like this myself. I'm making a mental and digital note here to see how it will compare to what I was going to do with itKincyr wrote:whee. uploaded another level.

My latest level. I put a few hours into making it this morning. Super Mario Maker is my first real use of a level editor, so I'm still learning how to make good levels. I'm looking for feedback on ways to improve in my design. I might also start messing around with SMBX soon and have found a link to some tutorials for that engine. Who knows, I might even consider trying my hand at the next make a good level contest.
But in the mean time, check out this level as well as a few others on my profile. I have learned a little bit based on what sort of levels are getting a good ratio of stars for the number of people who have played them.

funny thing is the length of the original level is exactly the maximum length you can have, and that the door after the axe would be exactly where the boss door was.Argumentable wrote:Ha, I was going to make something like this myself. I had save data troubles with Super Mario Maker thanks to my external hard drive so I haven't made a stage in awhile... UNTIL NOW.

Hey y'all. Been.. erm, awhile? *cough* Anywho, nice to see some of the old ASMT gang still around. Haven't been doing the romhack thing in quite some time, but the happy coincidence of me once again sharing my morning pop tart w/ raocow and the release of Mario Maker has returned me to this here bastion.
Caveat emptor: none of my levels are preceded by lengthy, overwrought dialogue peppered with ostentatiously erudite vocab... except I guess just now.
In chronological order:
Yonko Romp #1: 6EA4-0000-0026-468E
Yonko Armada #1: 439F-0000-003A-32FC
Yonko's Impotent Rage #1: 545E-0000-004C-3535
Yonko Wiggly Ride #1: 2516-0000-008A-06D7
For the curious, Yonko is a goofy family nickname. Still regaining my level design legs, but I think pretty good so far! Looking forward to playing y'all's stuff too.

was fun. took me several tries, most of my deaths were at the third battleArgumentable wrote:9ED5-0000-008E-4E0C House of the Many Bowser Battles
second fight can be skipped by not hopping into the arena until 2 ground pounds have been done
I managed to cheese the last fight by lobbing fireballs while standing under the spiny-helmet spawning pipe

Re: Super Mario Maker: Talkhaus Level Exchange
Here are a few reviews of some of the levels I played:
Not Roy's Castle by: Kincyr I understand that this level is a remake of Roy's Castle in SMW but even with that aside, it was obnoxiously slow and the lack of enemies made it not very challenging. In fact, on my second try I discovered that if you land on the far right of the moving platform at the start, you can ride through the whole platform segment unscathed. After that though the end of the level is fairly fun and solid. I found it creative that you used SMB3 cannons instead of Bowser statues. Overall, its decent but would be a lot better if you added maybe some fire bars or buzz saws to the platform segment. (Or Nintendo could just freakin' add snake blocks!)
House of the Many Bowser Battles by: Argumentable I have mixed feelings on this one. It might just be me, but Bowser was acting like a total idiot stupid in the first two rooms/battles. He wouldn't do anything but breath fire and jump backwards and when he finally did his slam attack, it wouldn't even go where I wanted him to. Bowser reminded me of that Mishi fight from the first A2MBXT episode and I am wondering if anyone else is having trouble with SMB3 Bowser. Anyway, its the disobedience of Bowser that kind of brought my enjoyment level way down. The third Bowser room was the most difficult causing me to die countless time. Every time I died I had to deal with the first two rooms of unpredictable Bowser just so I could battle the stupid clown car dude (This of course could be fixed if Nintendo added Mid-Points). My favorite part had to be the second room because I had a blast every time I tried juggling the two Bowser on my helmet and I could also use the shells to carve my way through that room instead of waiting. Next, I shall address the third room. The third room is somewhat unfair since whenever I tried to get a power up Bowser would shove me into the corner where I couldn't escape because the clown car is to dang pushy. Therefore, I would usually watch the floor slowly be destroyed by bombs until I fall into the lava or manage to escape briefly. I think this could be a better fight if you put a power up generator at opposite ends of the room. In the end: Despite my review sounding as if this level is frustrating and unfair, I still enjoyed it, knowing that I myself could probably not make something this good.
Lookin' Sharp by: SpoonyBardOL I LOVED THIS LEVEL! To be honest, upon starting it, I was quite scared of the intimidating spikes everywhere, but it turned out to be amazing. The only part that gave me trouble where the buzz saw bounce segments but even with those the level was awesome! Not to much else to say, and definitely nothing that needs to be changed.

Glad you enjoyed it, RegiBleck. So far Lookin' Sharp! has the lowest overall completion rate of all my stages, even putting aside it was the newest. I was starting to wonder if I tuned it a bit too hard.

I would classify it as moderately challenging to hard.

This level uses a glitch. It might have to be removed if it's patched out. Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess...?

I've made a comment about this on the spreadsheet entry, just in case it is patched out in the future and we're not aware of it.Pyro wrote:This level uses a glitch. It might have to be removed if it's patched out. Enjoy it while it lasts, I guess...?
