I made a short, basic castle level. I tried to make it around mid-level difficulty. Try to get all 3 1ups and without getting hit for a more serious challenge.

Just throwing this out there, but it looks the guys at Mindcrack are accepting levels to play. you guys should submit your levels there, maybe get it played in a youtube video.

I was going to call it "The Forgotten 1-1" to play on the fact that it's 1-1 of The Lost Levels, but I thought that might give out the impression that I was going to make a series of levels called The Forgotten.
during the make, I found that SFX are contextual when attached to Mario and was experimenting a little. here's my results (updated):
Pain/Deathscream/Laughter/Bird overlay: triggers when Mario takes damage or dies
Avalanche/Dramatic: triggers when Mario falls off the stage (Coursebot's 1-1 Remix (Ground) does this)
Applause/Cheering: triggers when Mario grabs a power-up
Buddha/Evil/Ah-Un/Trumpet: triggers when Mario ducks
Samba/Rave music: triggers when Mario hijacks a Lakitu Cloud or Clown Car
Jump/Bounce/Boxing Glove/Fireworks: triggers when Mario makes a running-jump, double-jumping, or bouncing off an enemy
Lightbulb/Frustration: triggers when Mario is idle
Telephone/Dizzy: triggers when Mario takes non-fatal damage
Heartbeat/Static/Bonus/Bowser music override: triggers when the level starts, doesn't fade out* (Coursebot's Coinucopia does this)

Because I tend to design levels that are very easy, I went out of my way to design a hard one

This one is interesting as it's made by four people (including myself). I had friends at mine for my birthday and we took turns making sections so that's why the design heavily changes with each section. I made the beginning and the platform ride :)
