Hey, guys.
Recently had an opportuntiy to finally ditch Windows Vista. Was informed by the shop guy that upgraded my PC that Windows 7 was eligble for uprade to windows 10 and seeing as I hate Windows 8... no brainer, really. Unless he was lying to me.
Anyway, I lost my copy of "Microsoft Office 2010" and was looking for recommendations from you guys. I need something that can open up Word, Excel and Access files.
Any help, greatly appreciated.

There's also OpenOffice, which is basically an open-source version of MOffice developed by Apache.
Also, shouldn't this be in the gazebo?

What are you talking about? Of course, it's in the... Oh, damn it! Uh... I mean people play games on Microsoft Office, right? That racing game is still installed as an easter egg, isn't it?Joseph Staleknight wrote:There's also OpenOffice, which is basically an open-source version of MOffice developed by Apache.

As I recall LibreOffice is the way to go there. Thanks to licensing shenanigans LibreOffice can borrow code from OpenOffice but OpenOffice can't from LibreOffice. Unless I have that backwards.Joseph Staleknight wrote:There's also OpenOffice, which is basically an open-source version of MOffice developed by Apache.

I'd recommend LibreOffice over Apache OpenOffice on principle, but use whatever you need to get the job done.

But yeah, just use LibreOffice or Google Docs.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Sounds as if LibreOffice is the most popular choice, so I'll go with that. Don't want Google Docs as I need something that potentially be used offline.

Yep, LibreOffice is my alt choice for opening docs.

Note that the 'shenanigans' are pretty much Sun/Oracle's fault. After StarOffice couldn't be supported anymore, it transferred to Sun. OOo was then basically developed by Sun until Oracle bought them and after some stupid arguments over Sun getting all lawsuit-y against linux folks the original team was either replaced or left depending on who's telling the story. Original team forked what they could given the license and rewrote it (into LO) making it free as in gratis and free as in libre (instead of just the former) all the while under their new license. Meanwhile Oracle realized it didn't really know what they were doing anymore without the original team and abandoned the original OOo, giving it to the Apache foundation. So now AOO is basically licensed up outdated code because Oracle's mad
