I didn't see a thread on this, so...
As we know, Nintendo Network IDs are linked to whatever Wii U or 3DS they were registered on.
As far as I am aware, other systems of this generation with ID systems (e.g. gamertags) can have them used over multiple consoles provided they know the log-in details. The Wii U, however, does not do this. (Feel free to correct this part.)
Do you think it is likely that Nintendo will eventually alter the way NNIDs are locked to the console in order to follow the manners of Microsoft and Sony?
One situation I can think of a problem as things are right now is that, say, two people share a Wii U but one moves out. Their data is now lost as they cannot re-access that Wii U again. If they could, however, transfer their NNID and relevant data from one Wii U to another, their progress would stay with them. Right now, that cannot happen, and I hope that this is changed.
What do you think?

Wii U NNID question
If Mario has taught me anything, it's that most things rely on whether there's something good in a nearby box.

Re: Wii U NNID question
I think Nintendo is stubborn as hell on all things internet/gamertag related and is going to drag its feet on this and it really doesn't matter to them to begin with if people are peeved about not being able to move around their player data freely.
It might also just even have to do with the console framework itself. So you might not even see it until they decide to make a console that really supports being able to take your data and put it on another console.
XBLA and PSN got a lot of things right much, much faster than Nintendo did tbh. This is along the same line of thought and indeed they're the last ones once again to adopt a pretty good online-related idea.

You're Wii U AND your 3DS, but nothing else, unfortunately.

Nintendo's account system is a joke.
Game downloads are still tied to the console itself rather than the account, so if your system stops working one day, you basically lose all of your games unless you contact Nintendo in which case they'll have you pay them like $100 to send it in to them so they can either try to fix it for you or just give you the equivalent in funds on a new system.

I suspect that they're dragging their heels on it because the logical conclusion is a unified account across all Nintendo systems that tracks purchases, and that would mean they can't sell the same VC games to you once on each console.

Plus it would kinda defeat the purpose of having some VC releases be only one one system and not the other (I'm looking at you, Battle Network)What Doctor Shemp said
