WELP so far all seemingly "powercreeped out" cards were still defendable (i.e. class exclusives are supposed to be stronger) but this is over now

It doesn't matter because Magma Rager/BBB were shitballs and their powercreeped cousins are still shitballs. If you wanna complain about power creep, complain about Shredder obsoleting pretty much every other four-drop.

That aside, there really isn't anything in TGT that I'm excited for, and that makes me a little bit sad.

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed in the new cards by any means, but it's not super packed with deck staples like gvg was. TGT is to GVG as BRM is to Nax it seems. There are a couple cards I'd really like but maybe I'll get into that later

I'm disappointed in the lack of pirates and murlocs though

What are the chances of being offered Rogue OR Warrior in Arena? I can't maths.

I don't play Arena and if I did I wouldn't pick either of those, I'm just curious.

The chances of getting offered at least one of the two classes you're looking for, out of three options in arena, is 58%.

The chances of getting offered at least one of the two classes you're looking for, out of three options in arena, is 58%.

58,33% is to get both or one whereas the chance of getting any class in arena is exactly 1/3. And that's assuming hearthstone doesn't rig the system.

Well yeah I know powercreep realistically began a long time ago and that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but pretty much all cards still had at least a very niche deck or situation where they could shine compared to other ones (even with just a beast tag). Even War golem you could argue you could put 2 of them compared to dr.boom

Now it isn't the case anymore and I sad ;_;

There's a total of 504 ( 504=9(8(7))) ) different combinations of classes you can get and in what order. meaning there's 54 combinations per class. We can table that. For this example I'll calculate shaman.
(Using numbers to save paper space):

The number on the far left determines what's the first class you get, the line after it determines the second and the final lines (read horizontally) determine the third class.

The line where you get shaman as your second choice means that all 7 other options in that line will be valid and the other 7 shamans that can be gotten as a third choice are also valid, so you get 14 shamans. Multiply that by 8 because it's gonna happen in all other classes (except shaman) and you'll get 112. Add 56 for the block in which you always get shaman first ( 56=7(8) ) and you get 168, which is 1/3 of 504. So that's how you calculate the odds for one class.

Now if you want to know how likely you are to get both or one of two classes, here's how it works, let's calculate rogue and warrior for this one:

Both lines where you get rogue or warrior as your second option get highlighted and all rogues and warriors spread throughout the block also get highlighted, leaving you with 26 valid combinations ( 26= 2(7)+2(6) ) multiplied by 7 other non-rogue/warrior classes. Blocks where you get warrior or rogue as your first option get highlighted, giving you 56 valid combination multiplied by 2. (294= 7(26)+ 2(56) ) so 294 combinations are valid. 294/504= 0.5833 so 58,33%

That's not my natural handwriting by the way, I used my pen tablet and writing on it is somewhat more difficult.

I did it like this: (2/9) + (7/9)*(2/8) + (7/9)*(6/8)*(2/7) = the answer, 0.58333.

(The first part is "what are the chances the first option had what you're looking for", the second part is "what are the chances the first option doesn't have what you're looking for and the second one does", the third part is "what are the chances the first two didn't but this third one does". Add them together, zap.

It's really the same thing Clam did, it just maybe looks simpler.)

9 choose 3 = 9 * 8 * 7 / 6 = 84 distinct combinations of 9 classes

8 choose 2 = 8 * 7 / 2 = 28 possible combinations that contain Rogue
8 choose 2 = 8 * 7 / 2 = 28 possible combinations that contain Warrior
7 choose 1 = 7 possible combinations that contain both Rogue AND Warrior

28 + 28 - 7 = 49 distinct combinations that contain Rogue or Warrior (or both)

49 / 84 = 58.33%

Yeah, it didn't happen yet. Gotta give League and then maybe the holidays a chance to blow over. I really wanna make a Reno Jackson deck but I don't wanna go Warlock or Warrior cause those are too easy. Almost tried Hunter, then more seriously Rogue but... I don't really know! I feel Rogue might end up being one of the better options though
