Super Smash Flash 2 - Version 0.9b - Now with MULTIPLAYER

Post by Sorel »

Maybe some of you heard stuff about it already...

Super Smash Flash is in development by the McCleodgaming developer team. (list can be found here http://mcleodgaming.wikia.com/wiki/Supe ... _Developer)

I have been following the development of the game since 2008 and it's amazing how much progress they made over the years.

One might ask: "What is this game about in the first place?". Well, simply said, it's like a Super Smash Bros game, but with different content. There are some 3rd or 4th party characters, stages, assist trophies etc, you can play it for free and you can also play it in your browser (Downloading the game is also an option)

The most recent version (0.9B) includes an online mode so you can play with friends. Simply create an account, wait until your account has been activated and you are good to go!

And now, links:
Official McLeodgaming website:http://www.mcleodgaming.com/index.php
The Games page (you can play/download the game there):http://www.mcleodgaming.com/games.php

No thanks.

At least it's better than the first one because it doesn't have Sonic OC donutsteel characters (yet).

not just any anime characters, but generic megapopular shonen ones! oh boy!!!!1111

"ok we could try and expand smash bros to be better with characters we would wanna see who do you think we should add" "*pulls out old issue of shonen jump* i have some suggestions"

seriously, only one FE or mother character and all these random unfitting extra guys like why
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

There aren't only anime/manga 3rd party characters, there are also some 3rd party game characters like Bomberman, Sora and Lloyd.

But let's be honest, is there any character from a "normal" anime/manga who would fit in a fighting game?

Judging from the reactions of some people... yep.

Hahaha

I remember in 2006 or so when we played this piece of shit on the high school computers and they were barely able to run it at decent speed

Also garbage looking characters, cheetahmen-worthy hitboxes, nonsense controls, THOSE WERE THE DAYS

Anime characters is just what they were missing good job

I think you mixed up the first game with this one.

I got to agree that some characters really need a graphics rework, but the hitboxes are just fine. Controls can also be changed.

No, I'm criticizing them because they're normal.

Like other characters wouldnt really work well either but i mean its just really hilariously bad when they're using hte ultra-popular ones

"Oh my gooood Nintendo is using Mario and Link and all the other popular Nintendo characters burn every copy of Super Smash Bros"[/sarcasm]

The idea is pretty simple: Use characters from a popular franchise in a crossover -> fans of said franchise will play the game.
There really is nothing more to it. The only character I liked before I watched the Animé was Ichigo. When I was 8 I didn't know what that "animé" thing was.

I remember when this was reasonably new, and I was part of a team making a Smash fangame in competition with it. Ours was generally considered better made, but it eventually collapsed because Flash sucks and couldn't handle what we were trying to do.

[10:22:40 AM] Bwarch: Just the inclusion of anime characters in general is probably a bad idea since Smash has always been about... game characters.
[10:23:27 AM] Bwarch: But eh, the idea is to do things the regular Smash doesn't do. It just seems like such a clunky game to put your effort into.
[10:24:11 AM] Bwarch: Lots and lots of work for what is a copycat in the first place on a vastly inferior platform.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

The problem with including Dragon Ball, Inuyasha etc. is that while they may have a popular following, they might not be popular within the Nintendo demographics and well known "as a Nintendo product".

Personally if I was having an anime crossover game, I would think of these, for example:
  • Shingeki no Kyojin
  • Madoka Magica
  • Sword Art Online
  • Kill la Kill
  • Kantai Collection

Hm, there are some characters who would be great fighters in a Smash game indeed.

The thing about putting anime characters into your Smash Bros. fangame is that Jump Ultimate Stars already existed.

that would be relevant if smash wasnt a nintendo game

what im saying is, if they're going to put in very unfitting characters, they should at least put good ones in
