Mario needs no introduction ᵉᵛᵉᶰ ᵗʰᵒᵘᵍʰ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᶦˢ ᵃᶰ ᶦᶰᵗʳᵒ.
Due to his popularity, there have been several clones. Some good, some mediocre, and some not so good.
Personally, I thought SuperTux 0.3.3 was good, even with some of it's flaws. (i.e. enemies move a bit faster- making some levels impossible to no-hit/extremely difficult to begin with), level editor for Windows 7 & 8 needs extra steps to work, etc.) For one, some levels were quite clever. Tux himself also controls pretty well.

In Super Mario 3D World there's a cherry powerup that makes good Mario clones.

Re: Good Mario Clones
In Mario vs. DK you have Mario robots. They aren't clones but meh, close enough.
Huh, now I want to play Mario vs DK. Fascinating.

Train harder, run faster, be stronger, better, evolution never over.

In that vein, add Crash Bandicoot, mainly 2. That one Marisa game that Kilga played with the Not Mega Mushroom looks like it would be another, even though I'm indifferent on the source material.Roy Angrym'n wrote:Sonic the Hedgehog

Re: Good Mario Clones
the original giana sisters game was pretty good, if you think of it like a fangame instead of a cash in
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

Yeah well it's decent but the recent reboot (twisted dreams) is a million times better so you should play it insteadLeet wrote:the original giana sisters game was pretty good, if you think of it like a fangame instead of a cash in
It's probably impossible to list every mario clone though, I mean there's probably an internet rule that says "if it exists, there's a mario clone of it"

There is that new in-progress level editor someone's making for it though. Some info on it here.TheKirBro wrote:the level editor isn't that good though. :<Alice wrote:SMBX is obviously the best Mario clone.
