I really disliked DDD in Brawl, just because he was slow and frustrating to use. His animation definitely looks better in this one, though!

Man, they're kind of sneaky in a smart way with the updates. I think King Dedede was announced the day Kirby: Triple Deluxe released in Japan.

Dedede was announced because Kirby Triple Deluxe was released in Japan, Zelda was announced because Zelda A Link Between Worlds was released in Japan, Sonic for the release of Sonic Lost World, Toon Link for the release of Wind Waker HD, Olimar for the the release of Pikmin 3, etc...

Also I'm happy that DDD is back, and that he was announced before Metaknight.

A few people have been saying that Diddy Kong might be confirmed as a SSB4 character around the release of DKC: Tropical Freeze.
Either that or Cranky Kong will be announced

I sincerely hope they remove Dedede's chain-grabbing and nigh-invincible spot-dodging abilities, because my brother plays him for pretty much specifically those reasons and it's just stupid because I literally cannot do anything against that.

Rosalina & Luma is a surprising one, she seems like she'll be quite complex! For some reason my brother really loves her despite not liking Mario Galaxy at all.


I'm still secretly hoping for people like Waluigi or Geno or Bomberman or a Castlevania someone (Shanoa if I could have my way). I'm slightly concerned at there only being 4 newcomers so far, but it could be that they're saving some more of them for the latter end of reveals?

Geno's probably not going to happen since Square-Enix holds the rights to him. I also wouldn't expect Bomberman since Konami effectively destroyed Hudson. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Pac-Man is in it since Namco is invested with the development of this. Another Nintendo dude I could see making it in is Little Mac since there's that ring stage.

I know the chances of inclusion for the likes of Geno and Bomberman are pretty much slim-to-none, but since Megaman's present, I can still pretend that they'd be possible >.>

I do think Lil' Mac could be interesting to see, and I also secretly hope for a Tales Of character, since as you said, Namco's developing it (or whatever their involvement is).

As well, figured I'd mention that an interesting thing is going down in the Smash community tonight. A 1000$ Melee money match

From this we can conclude the reason for it all is a fella was miffed he wasn't included in a "tournament players to watch" list and challenged the list maker to a match. The list maker threw in a money bet, and it escalated all the way to 1000$.

I BELIEVE this is being streamed somewhere, and I shall edit the post once I figure out where.

This match is going down in 9 hours and 40 minutes.

About that money match thing, it's because it's currently Apex, the biggest smash tournament. If you're bored this week-end go on the stream watch some Melee, Brawl, Project:M or other games.

I don't play smash competitively (mostly because I have nobody to play with), but I like to watch Melee matches.

Fake or not, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Mewtwo WAS actually returning in this game, especially since mega-evolution is new and could potentially be Final Smash potential. Potentially.

Whatever the case, I do wonder what new Pokemons will be involved in this one.

I feel like giving my own take on this(with far less analysis as that website did)...

Given how neat and tidy Brawl's character select screen was, I can confirm one of three things:

1. This is a fake.
2. They decided to go abstract with the select screen.
3. There will be 49 characters, spread across five rows of ten slots.

As this is pretty consistent with having Zelda characters within two spaces of Mario ones, I'm going to rule out that second one. Meanwhile, I had jokingly tried to put together a mock roster of 49 and... had to grab some obscure characters to fit the patterns. I'm going to rule this as being fake.

I think a clear sign that that roster image is fake is that none of the characters are together... I know that in Brawl characters were laid out by series, so you'd have all the Mario characters, then Zelda etc.
And Mewtwo? Honestly I wouldn't complain if he returned but I think it's kind of unlikely. Chances are Lucario will be replaced with a Gen 5 or 6 Pokemon, but I have no idea which.
