Community Poll - Next Translation Project
Re: Community Poll - Next Translation Project
Out of those, I'd say one of the following:
http://www7.atpages.jp/smw/view.cgi/1225510433/
http://www7.atpages.jp/smw/view.cgi/1214306695/
Neither of them are exactly fantastic, but they rely so much on ASM gimmicks that translating the Japanese text would make them far easier to play for someone like raocow. I think those would benefit the most from a translation because of that, because of how the translation would actually help the game rather than just act as flavour text.
I wouldn't want to see these (because the translation we have is mostly adequate):
SMW YEAHHH
Romancing Mario
Eight Powers (also for level design reasons)
I think Luigi's Adventure already exists in English, so there's no need for it to be translated. Hyper VII is only up to world 1, so no point yet. Hyper 6 is too hard to be fun (for someone playing minus save states).
So yeah, translate the ones where the translation would actually make a noticeable difference.

Doubt that raocow would ever play these, but:
Hypers 1-4
5 is also in that link, in case you want to make a hard translation of that (because I think someone already did that for raocow as he was playing).

I love it.peteyboo wrote:Platinum vs. raocow vs. myself triple battle at the same time
48 hours straight of Hyper VII. Whoever beats it first wins!
Re: Community Poll - Next Translation Project
Does it have to be a romhack and why
Re: Community Poll - Next Translation Project
Probably because it's easier to translate a ROM hack than a proper 'game'. With a Mario ROM hack you can just use Lunar Magic, with a game you have to basically hack the thing yourself like those fan localisation teams do, which could take weeks or months.ano0maly wrote:Does it have to be a romhack and why

If I was to LP Asakura, I'd want to start at the beginning.

Re: Community Poll - Next Translation Project
I'll translate Asakura 3, don't worry about doing it. The plan was to release a translation alongside an LP of the game, but Kefit is very busy with work (he is something resembling a lawyer after all) and we haven't really been able to find the time to actually go through with the plans. I happen to have some more free time so if people are impatient I'll just go ahead and do the translation and release it. No offense but I would feel more comfortable having both of them done by the same person for consistency reasons if nothing else.
I have all of the tools and stuff already so it's just a matter of actually spending the week or so editing text and images. Well, I can do the text in a day but I'm lazy so.

Bumping this because now I happen to be in a group chat where Kefit and moogy also are, and they said that if people want to translate Asakura! 3 then go ahead.
