Post Your Ports!

Post by Chdata »

Made a custom music port/song? Post the spc (or if you want to release it, txt) here!

Please don't distribute ports that aren't yours (SPC's are ok.)

If possible, use SP1 files, their more usefull, still play in winamp, and don't appear as stupid security certificates!

Most of my files are already uploaded as SPCs, and I'm too lazy to rename them just for the sake of this thread.

Been porting since 2007, so I'd have way too many to show off, so I'll just throw some of my best work here I guess. Most of the MIDIs I port off of are sequenced by me, so they usually work out with the 8 channel limit.

Live-A-Live - Go! Go! Buriki Daio
Final Fantasy 6 - Edgar/Sabin's Theme
Mickey Mania - Giant's Table
Kirby 64 - Quiet Forest (level 2)
Chrono Trigger - Manoria Cathedral

I also do unsampled work.

Cave Story - Scorching Back
Live-A-Live - Under the Fake

Most of the TXTs are already on SMWC, and the ones that aren't are likely exclusive to SMWCP, so yeah. Enjoy.

Here's the "ASMT OST" which is actually just a bunch of unorganized spcs and a few mp3s

They shouldn't be. I don't know of anyone else who had that issue before.

Ah well.

Not really worth reuploading a 100mb file over again for though

This is a composition, not a port, but I spent a good day straight on it, and I'm .. pretty pleased with the results.

Micromelx Factory

just thought I'd show it here. spc compositions still classify right? right? :sorrow:

Winamp, Meridian Advance, Audio Overload, SPCPLAY.exe. Whichever I feel like. They all work for me, and I still have no idea why it doesn't work for you.

a shame.

Bit of a bump. We've (well, mostly me) completed ten tracks for An SMW Central Production. They're all sampleless.

Check them out here. SPCs can be found here.

Basically music porting for SMW is pretty limited in it's capabilities and (older) video games are somewhat alike with not using that many sound channels and stuff.
'Real' songs are a lot more complicated and you'd have to simplify them in some way to actually be able to port them correctly. And that means a lot of the song gets lost which is a shame.

So basically it's mostly to much effort for to little of a reward.

Also, videogame songs are meant for videogames so they sound great in smw. Real songs usually don't sound good in smw. Also, midis of real songs usually sound terrible.

I'm not sure if you can port it from Mario paint composer but you can replicate it on smw because there is a sample bank for all of it's sounds.

Jumping into conversation. Also keep in mind with actual songs, you have to use the instrumental version. Although some things really are easy to go from game to game.

I can do Final Fantasy X-2 - 1000 Words (Instrumental) (full)
without too much effort considering it's what I'm working on now.

*shot*

My main problem is instrument switching. One day I'm going to make a list of instruments that sound like each other >.<.

Current problem: Bright Acoustic & Orchestal Strings.

You don't. You just need eyes, a working ear, a working computer with internet access and a very high download limit.
