so today the one of the worst games of this year has been released. You probably know what I am talking about... Diablo 3.
Seriously to me and probably lots of people out there it is one of the biggest disappointments out there. It has horrible graphcis, a terrible story. The gameplay is boring as hell, running over some generic landscapes killing the same mobs of mosters over and over again. It has zero variety in skills and character customization.
The cinematics look cheap.
Hell it doesn't even feature Diablo, even though this game is named Diablo and thus should actually focus on him. Yet no sign of Diablo.

I'll have you know Diablo 3 has some of the best error screens due to server overload preventing you from even playing the single player mode ever seen.

I played Diablo 2 but I always found it was boring and slow for some reason. I hope you're right about this one so the 3 people I know that have this game will stop being absorbed by it.

SayAnything got me to play Diablo 2 (I think?) with him and Blinx and then SayAnything never played it and I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing so then I never played it again after.

Complex MMORPGs featuring dungeon crawling and stats madness have never and will never be my thing. It's like I'm spending more time learning the game than actually enjoying playing it.
That said, the hype about Diablo III is terrible, almost as bad as the Skyrim one.
Not saying they're bad games or that they don't live up to most people's expectations, but I dislike unreasoned hype in general.

I wouldn't know, I haven't played either. What I've heard from Skyrim though is that the hype was not unjustified.

Skyrim was fun i played it and then I stopped playing it then they released mods through steam and I downloaded a bunch then still never played it

(I'm actually having a great time with the game, despite the awful shit the servers went through yesterday.)

Though I still haven't managed to install it, the Blizzard Downloader thing doesn't work too well :(

Personally I'm just waiting for Torchlight 2. That game you can actually play without needing a constant working internet connection if you just want to play single player.

Diablo 3 is victim of every other overhyped game. It's overhyped.
When GTA V comes out, we'll get a shitload of complaints as well. It's just how it is.
Still, I'm more looking forward to Torchlight 2 because it's a better game, apart from the story line. In my opinion.

Probably because a lot of it is actually true XD From where I am (middle of act 2), the story is patheticly bad, the graphics are not worth talking about (luckily, I don't care) and the gameplay is kind of fun, but repetitive and gets boring after a while.

The server problems are an ABOMINATION, and there are many questionable game design decisions (why do non-magic items even exist when they're 100% useless after 10 minutes into the game and have the same selling value as dirt, Waller/I forgot the name but the thing which prevents you from moving - type are cheap and unfair vs ranged fighters, why do you have to suffer 15 hours of easy stuff before the challenge even begins, even with elective mode why is skill-to-hotkey allocation so complicated...

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game and is decently fun (in small enough chunks), but one does wonder how it took 12 years to make. Sure, no game is perfect, but many are better than this.

With several people mentiong Torchlight II as a "replacement", I think I'll look into it!

Hey, do you know what isn't a bad dungeon crawler? Torchlight, it costs half as much as diablo III and the sequel is coming out soon did ya know. Pre-purchase that shit on steam now and you receive the sequel when it comes out, and you have the first game to play now. The best part of Torchlight 2 is that it has co-op and you don't require a stable internet connection to play a single player game.

That's because you're a good person. For 99% of people out there this is actually a game about grinding enemies and finding the best loot possible.

Just finished D3 and I have to admit it was pretty good. :) A pretty solid story, nice graphics, a good action game.

That's because you're a good person. For 99% of people out there this is actually a game about grinding enemies and finding the best loot possible.

It's only about grinding if you're too fucking lazy to kill enemies when they're in your path in the first place.

Pretty much this. So far I have not done any grinding at all (I'm on Act III currently) and I've had absolutely no problems with the difficulty whatsoever. Of course, if you don't bother to kill enemies when you come across them the first time, then it's your own fault if you're having too much trouble with the game and you have to go back to fight enemies for exp.
The game's been great so far. I can, however, understand why some people say it's repetitive. You will noticee repeating sections in the dungeons, but still, that alone shouldn't affect your perception on how enjoyable it is.

Ace and Alec, we're not talking about the same grinding at all. From what my Diablo fan friends say, the game is SUPPOSED to be very easy until say the middle of Hell mode (I hate that kind of design choice but w/e), which is also the point where you reach the max level. If you don't start getting better and better items at a decent rate during the game (remember it's all luck based) then you will need to grind for loot or use the auction house.
