Re: What games are you playing?
Still hopping into Nightreign for the weekly enhanced boss fight, but after doing all the character remembrances and getting platinum, I figured I needed something else to kill time until Donkey Kong Bananza comes out.
So I booted up the PS5 remakester of The Last of Us which I got on sale for 50% off recently. And interestingly enough, the last time I played through this game was the original on PS3 in 2014 while I was waiting for Dark Souls 2 to launch on PC.
It a fun enough romp. I don't really love stealth gameplay and resource management. And it's also kind of annoying that the game encourages you to explore the areas by leaving resources and upgrade materials around, but then frequently characters will be spouting dialogue at you that was obviously intended to be listened to while you're right next to the character. So you're rubbing up against all the tables in the house as your companion's dialogue fades away into silence. Real cinematic!

Re: What games are you playing?
Baldur's Gate - had the day off thanks to the holiday so I blitzed a bunch of the main quest on my "let's actually play the game" save file. Currently preparing to run through the Thieves' Maze. Have cleared Trackless Sea Island and the upper floors of Durlag's Tower (less Kirinhale), I'm debating skipping town and doing the lower floors of Durlag's Tower before getting punched in the neck by Sarevok. I have enough Potions of Mirrored Eyes that Aec'Letec's main weapon shouldn't be an issue.
Uma Musume - it might be gacha trash but I'm enjoying it question mark? I've only seen one or two episodes of the actual anime but this is scratching some very interesting itches.

Re: What games are you playing?
Crash Bandicoot 4 replay is complete, although the ridiculous quest for 100% is still out there. I'm at 60%. Mario Kart World is "beaten". Been kind of ho-humming it with online stuff the last couple days to put in time on something new. It's looking like Lunar 2 could be back on the table soon.

Re: What games are you playing?
MapleStory (MapleRoyals) - Got one (1) Garnet Ore but also a bunch of other Ores and someone was nice to me and helped me get Mano if I wanted to kill him, I was grinding in his general area for the purpose of killing snails. I politely declined but it feels nice having someone be nice to you.
Ghosts n Goblins (Arcade) - Loop2 done. Fun game but very janky and a quarter muncher, I had to use savestates.

Legend of Heroes V - Getting equipped at Polka and gaining levels along the way.
EDIT: oh yeah i should add that windows made my loh5 saves read only for some ungodly reason. i had to remove this setting to make them save properly and not hang up the game and virtual machine (not the emulator itself though). im glad this tradition started all the way back in win98 and possibly even 95 and 3.1 and shit. i hate microsoft

Re: What games are you playing?
Did a quick playthrough of GunForce on the SNES after watching pholtos' recent LP of it. Not exactly Contra III, but it's clear this is a not so hot arcade port anyway. Fine enough for a quick play, but this'd be one of those big disappointment games if you got it back in the day since it's so short and not exactly the best to control.

Re: What games are you playing?
Legend of Heroes V - A ways into Chapter 3, did the Lakeside Shrine at Lake Wyolina and got the Resonance Stone of Target. Names from the PSP localization, but I'm playing the Windows release.
The need to level up a level or two in this one is really getting in the way of the pacing, LoH3 and the remake of 4 didn't need it as much, LoH4 only if you needed some battles to be softer and idk. The way this one's real time strategy-type battles are set up doesn't really work with it. But the old LoH4 was very heavy on the grind like some older PC RPGs so, maybe that's why it's like this?
The samba overworld theme is so good though, and McBain is cute. Wish we saw more instances of Una trying to confess to Forte though.

Re: What games are you playing?
Torneko no Daibouken - Shop at Lv5, gitting gud at the flow of carrying the safe back. Current record at 13F on the Mysterious Dungeon 壁|^^)b
Main order of business is find the Monster House in 10F, use a Return Herb, sneak back in for the safe while the monsters are in a frenzy (or go full BOMBA with a Bang Scroll) and try to bolt to 20F for the guaranteed Outside Scroll.
Of course this is all dependant on finding the enough Bread to keep Torneko sated all the way through, or at the very least the Belly Ring, On Top of the skill game needed. I dont see myself realizing I have the Belly Ring very often, since it's a passive (always full stomach) and I'd need to either spend some time idling to check if my hunger is deminishing or use an Identify Scroll. If I find it early it'd be good for grinding.
BONUS! Guru Larry gave out a link for a dump of Watermelon's Paprium for the MegaDrive along with a Libretro core that can run it. You may ask, why? Watermelon has been absolute ass with providing the copies of the game to all of their Kickstarter backers, instead choosing to waste it on lavish parties and booze during the launch period.
DJ Slopes has a good video on it but I'm sad he kinda gets dangerously close to shilling the product. Free belt scroller babey !!
There are other videos detailing the whole drama but I don't have the time to watch youtube videos about indie devs being irresponsible, that shit is like the background radiation of my life, on top of Triple A Gaming being the literal Torment Nexus
Also downloaded PySlayer (a Wind Slayer server emulator) and a WS1 Korean client for dinking around in said emulator. It's functional, but not quite playable. The main branch of PySlayer got taken down and I imagine it's because the game is coming back in Korea. It was fully reverse engineered with no copyrighted code, but I wouldn't be shocked if Sesysoft copyright struck it.

Re: What games are you playing?
I FIGURED OUT HOW TO INCREASE THE PROCESSOR SPEED ON NEKO PROJECT 21/W SO MIMA'S TOUHOU 2 BATTLE DOESN'T LAG LIKE A CAVE BOSS
also im trying to install a localhost server of ragnarok online (renewal) on a vm for fun using rAthena
also try pressing the print screen key on touhou 2 for a funny goof where you get a message that blackens the screen until you press the key again. i think this was zun's attempt at spoiler prevention since he's obsessed with people not spoiling the Very Simplistic touhou endings when a lot of em are basically Girls Rock. take note im using the english patch so idk if it's anti-piracy shenanigans either

Re: What games are you playing?
Umamusume: it's been less than a week and I've already got two full wins (one each with Haru Urara and Taiki Shuttle). Forgiving roguelite is forgiving. Still no real money paid, but I do intend to buy something once I'm paid to show support since they're not shoving ads into the game.
FFTA (mission items fix): Time to prepare for the second-easiest Totema fight in the game.
Baldur's Gate: I think I will go back and clear out the lower floors of Durlag's Tower before I go onward to Siege. If nothing else it'll get me to the TotSC experience cap.

Re: What games are you playing?
been trying to find a good way to play burning dragon plus bc i can't do diagonals while firing with spacebar
also dinked around a bit on discstation vol.14, namely gensei suikoden (no relation to konami's game) and el-do・ra・do. suikoden is one in compile's gensei subseries that ran in their discstation disc magazines and is pretty much a simplified rpg about a lazy as hell martial arts master who is also an adorable oldman tiger who is trying to find the people who beat up like. his friend or pupil or something.
apparently it's big nostalgia bait in korea, to the point a dev remade it with d3 enterprise's blessing (they've also made a new fortress on the switch but, it doesn't have online i think, and they are also working on hd-2d astonishia story which is insane to me and im definitely copping that)
el dorado is an isometric puzzle-adventure game and it's giving me the same vibes as old euro pc games and landstalker and i really love it, i had a hard time tearing myself away from it.
also finally managed to set up a local server for ragnarok online but. i had to use a premade client (froggo rö) and i feel bad i wasn't able to proc the proper procedure for making my own
im glad i've gone full "not caring about clearing my whole backlog over everything else"

Re: What games are you playing?
Finished off The Last of Us last night.
I forgot how front-loaded that game is in terms of the seasons. Maybe I just got better as the game went on, but I did summer and fall across like 3 or 4 play sessions, ended off a session fairly early in winter, then my next session I made it all the way through winter, figured I'd do a bit of spring, then realized I'm already at the end so I just finished it off that same session. I didn't remember that like, the famous giraffe scene is basically the end of the game?
I guess I'll do the DLC now which I never played back on PS3. I think I did watch a longplay of it but at least it's something to kill time until Bananza next week.
