i honestly cant wait to live in a world where sonic 4 doesn't automatically mean "an average at best phone game that was unceremoniously forced to be a tentpole title and yet given no budget whatsoever because capitalism babeyyyyyy" myself

c'mon sega dont fuck up amy's big screen debut

alternately: "the kemco rpg of platformers"

(take into account i just stockpiled a bunch of phone rpgs, esp korean ones for smartphones to dink around in, and i may pirate some kemco ones. not all of em because most of em blend together)

Oh yeah, Kemco... I know about them because of some fairly good SNES games, but they apparently only make mobile average RPGs now (?).
There are a lot of old names I remember from childhood games that seem to have more or less vanished (either bankrupt or bought by a company that only makes mobile slop usually), like Jaleco, Irem, Treasure, Taito, just to name a few.

more or less, they're also on consoles and steam but. would you buy a pretty average rpg for 5 bucks or would you just purchase an indie rpg instead and have weird shit be tossed at you for like 10, or even a triple a rpg for 60. take note im the guy who sees good aspects in trash btw

zenonia and heroes lore fuck as action rpgs despite their platform, but i doubt asdivine is that fun in terms of a turn based rpg. i did like frane (i've only played frane 1 so far) but that was originally a windows 9x game, pretty basic but cozy low budget ys 2 clone with some bishoujo aspects.

yeah rip treasure, i was watching a friend play dynamite headdy and its so fucking good...

taito is actually owned by square enix which. as someone who loves square enix rpgs but hates the company, that's so fucking depressing. Let My Bubble Dragons Go

irem just does pachinko slop sadly, but they live on as granzella, since all of their devs moved on to there. they're even making r-type games

jaleco is just DEAD but thankfully city connection (the company) is trying to keep their memory alive.

I totally understand that, also there are so many old unique rpgs, you can spend about a decade or more just playing them, skimming through everything without worrying about newer releases, I feel like that's the biggest competition for these "small scale, but not indie" games, not niche and experimental enough, neither popular enough for any potential audience.

Also, you know what they say... You either go bankrupt as a beloved game studio or live long enough to be bought by a giant company with horrendous practices. Something like that.

You have to remember, that's Andy Kaufman playing Gerald. Dude said he'd fake his death and come back in 2004, then waited another twenty years and fully became Jim Carrey because Jim Carrey fully became him for the Man on the Moon movie, all so they could star together in Sonic 3 and everyone would think it was just two Jim Carreys. Typical Kaufman deception. Don't expect a "gotcha!" any time soon, that's just how he does things.

So if he offers any take on any Sonic game whatsoever, that's a deception with so many layers Photoshop will crash if you try to open it.

people will defend sonic 06 on there because of "my ambitions" and, as someone who can have fun with 06, that game is as stable as the constant re-porting of skyrim. that is sub romancing saga 1 on snes levels of quality, like some megaman x6 korean pc port shit

enjoying sonic on your own with friends who also like sonic is the best way to partake in the series i feel

I might be misremembering, but is it that bad? The game is flawed, mainly due to being too obtuse, but otherwise it's a pretty good game and really unique for its time with how open and branching it is, the gameplay also being an evolution of what the author did in FFII (the real one), I don't think it can be compared to X6 and '06, which are very clearly rushed and broken, to the point of being barely playable at times (the better aspects of X6 come from being made on an already existing engine).

i meant how glitchy it is. i love romancing saga 1 TO DEATH but it's very clearly as stable as a bethesda game or like. sonic adventure

Oh, yeah, fair enough. Pokémon RGBY is pretty much the same, fun game, but held together with duct-tape and love.
