Re: Halo 3 (non-ODST) - Covenant aliens in the air / In a flying saucer you can take me there

I want to take a moment and talk about collectibles in Halo. This might sound weird because we haven't actually seen any, and from the general design sensibilities of modern shooters, you'd expect something like audiologs to lie around everywhere explaining backstory. A little older (e.g. Resident E...

Re: Halo 3 (non-ODST) - Covenant aliens in the air / In a flying saucer you can take me there

iirc the Hunters are one-hit kills with the Magnum in Halo 1 because their weakness is treated as them getting headshot, and headshots have something absurd like a x64 damage multiplier to guarantee you one-hit dudes if you hit their head

Re: Halo 3 (non-ODST) - Covenant aliens in the air / In a flying saucer you can take me there

A core is usually on the inside, and not halfway up on the back somewhere. "Oh you reach it over the balcony" deranged interior design. The human mind cannot comprehend this

Humbly requesting a cosmetic but fun thing to be turned on https://i.imgur.com/9W3RYY2.jpeg This "Skull" (which are gameplay modifiers you used to need to find in levels, hidden very obscurely, but they are all unlocked for the MCC from the get-go). I screenshotted the menu from which it h...

Re: Halo 3 (non-ODST) - Covenant aliens in the air / In a flying saucer you can take me there

Hard agree that Halo is not a cover shooter at all despite having regenerating "health" (shields). Aggression is absolutely the way to go. Especially on higher difficulties, if you cower behind cover, some dude with a hammer will run around the corner and pulverize you. Snipers will be pla...

Re: Halo 3 (non-ODST) - Covenant aliens in the air / In a flying saucer you can take me there

I getcha regarding the lack of experimentation. Perhaps a bigger problem than a push for sheer graphical fidelity, however, was that Halo was pushed by Microsoft to be a big system seller (and it worked, because Halo was p damn good for the time), then Halo 2's online multiplayer exploded in popular...

Re: Halo 3 (non-ODST) - Covenant aliens in the air / In a flying saucer you can take me there

The virgin Bungie putting a floating arrow somewhere on the map and the chad Valve guiding the player organically through good level design. im gonna be real in the 7th gen literally everyone just gave up and stopped trying for some reason. it's why indie games blew up, literally pretentious cocksu...

Re: BANJO-TOOIE - Walking on Hot Coals

I like the fact you can bring stuff out of the levels to finagle some minor puzzles in other levels, but it makes the pacing feel like complete ass just as a spectator, on top of the levels being the size of a small nation. Call it luddism but I much prefer the conciseness of Kazooie. You are not e...

It's really jank and I definitely also thought "I guess that doesn't work" like raocow when I first tried the torpedo on them. Did you know the fish contents are randomized? The jiggy, page etc. could be in any of those rooms. Also, which locker is Davy Jones' is also randomized. The other...

Re: BANJO-TOOIE - Leaping To and From a Purple Pile

The timer for the "river race" is meant to be extremely tight - certainly not allowing you 19 full seconds to spare. I remember having to take shortcuts through enemy-infested shores just to make it. I actually know why this is not the case for raocow, at least if I remember correctly: the...
