Re: what is the all-time raoquote
somehow I never replied to it, but it's in my sig.
"That's kinda too bad. The potential was there... the floor was not. That's kind of a problem!"
The immediately preceeding "Oh man, three thumbs up!" also gets a lot of use from me.

Re: (The) Guardian Legend - Unaware of the futility of their actions
In other words, it's a classic Smart Bomb.Enemy Eraser: This will kill all the enemies on the screen by a high-powered flash of light.

Re: (The) Guardian Legend - Machines wage a continuous war
"The Chevron" is called Consecutive Firing and powers up the firing rate of your standard weapon, as you surmised. The generic-looking Gun raises attack power. A scan of the US instruction manual is attached!
The shops are not listed in the manual at all!

Re: What games are you playing?
I have a lot of options available - many going years back - and I can't decide what I'm in the mood for. Apparently I decided to just play the most recent game I bought. Doi. START AGAIN START AGAIN START AGAIN: a prologue ! Not many games start with the "Game Over" screen. This one does!...

Re: (The) Guardian Legend - In a land abandoned by man
it does look surprisingly similar but Return of Cooler was 1992, and this game is 1988. Transformers: The Movie was 1986 so it's more likely to be Unicron or a common ancestor.

(The) Guardian Legend - And being alive is pretty much a constant stream of embarrassment.
https://i.imgur.com/G6tBrPO.jpg The Guardian Legend (known as Guardic Gaiden in Japan) was a hybrid Action Game and Shoot 'Em Up created by Compile and published by Irem (in Japan) and Brøderbund Software (in North America) for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Released around 1988, it's likely fo...

Re: What games are you playing?
My foreseeable future: More Final Fantasy XIV , NG+ of Armored Core , absolutely more Void Stranger , my usual dipping into Warframe and simple web puzzle games, and past that - no idea. October Void Stranger ! Yes, I wrote this one up last time, but I had barely gleaned its depths at the time. Sin...

Trivia (Final, maybe) -Depending on your time, the music in the title screen would change. Under 6 Minutes unlocks "Curly's Theme" (Running Hell), Under 5 Minutes unlocks the Toroko Theme, Under 4 minutes unlocks the King Theme (White), Under 3 Minutes unlocks "Sue's Theme" (Saf...

Re: Cave Story (NO SPOILERS PLEASE) - DoDonPachi
Actual kinda spoilers? Very minor though, but samuel don't open them I really want raocow to nap on Chaco's bed and then go "oh......" in a dejected manner after he notices the lipstick in his inventory I can't deny that I was a little disappointed, but there's always a chance of it happe...

Re: BANJO-TOOIE - Guessing a Location
So with Tooie done and dusted, there's three games left in the series. A racing game for the GBA that no one ever talks about, a GBA platformer people go "that was a thing that happened" to... And the driving game that killed the series. We're... Probably stopping here, any errant romhack...

Re: Cave Story+ (NO UNSOLICITED SPOILERS PLEASE) - Ibara
When you already know the story and are paying less attention to each individual text box, and try to do the quest by memory instead of following the cues, it can end up with a lot of extra backtracking as you realize the game actually expects a specific order of actions and you can't just use your...

Re: Cave Story+ (NO UNSOLICITED SPOILERS PLEASE) - Ibara
Grasstown and Sand Zone are a bit tedious with the backtracking, funnily enough they knew that and made the switch port more friendlier making possible to carry 2 jelly juice bottles at once yeah, likewise with dog-stacking in sand zone (which raocow has already mentioned and acknowledged). Cave St...

Re: BANJO-TOOIE - Looking at a Puzzling Situation
To throw my hat in the ring of opinions on note clusters: the idea of a trail of breadcrumbs leading you through places is all well and good, but that only works the first time you enter the level. ghost/outline collectables help with this; the marker remains on repeat visits, and can be "re-c...
