Re: La-Mulana 2 - an astronaut in full gear
Uh. Okay, what? Why did Alviss remain speakable to after the Lamp of Time wore off? That's just how it is on that patch. Makes me wonder if it was changed again later. Edit: Nope still the same on patch 1.8.8.2, making me think it was a intentional quality-of-life change. If that's the case then it...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - all the lights combine to form captain planet
Nicely done solving the Brahma puzzle. That's one I couldn't completely solve without looking things up. I activated the different statues at such different points in time that I didn't realize that they were different colors until I finally found the last one I'd been missing. And as far as I'm awa...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - you're like an actual legit shmup boss
Anu was a boss I was pretty disappointed in. It's really interesting in theory but in practice he's really freaking tedious to hit and the background lasers attack is poorly communicated. (Though I think this latter point was alleviated in one of the later patches.) Unlike raocow I didn't have a Vol...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - someone who throws fire everywhere, that's just appealing
raocow inexplicably not noticing the lack of screen-spanning explosions when he accidentally solved the puzzle was a rather egregious error. Just how little attention does one have to be paying attention to what's going on in order to somehow not notice something that blatant? I could understand not...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - i did it. i did the math.
raocow, come on. If you know there's a spot you can go and you don't seem to be able to go there across several videos maybe you should stop and think about why that might be instead of mindlessly going "I'm holding left!!11!" You're not wrong on thinking you can go there (which should be ...

Re: What games are you playing?
Finished chapter 4 of my replay of Danganronpa. It's easily one of the best chapters in the entire game but I forgot how short it is compared to the others. In the same length of play session I managed to go from the start of chapter 4 all the way up to the beginning of chapter 5's investigation. Al...

Only raocow would manage to activate the Alsedana funeral event with exactly 444 gold, lol.

Re: La-Mulana 2 - get an extra weight to put in your sorrow hole
Welcome to quite possibly the most infuriating field to navigate in the entire game. Especially that part where you transfer from Doom to Gloom. Navigating upwards there is a complete and utter nightmare since everything is setup to screw you over and drop you all the way back down to the bottom, if...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - does eating curry count as praying
raocow obtained my personal favorite costume today. Though all of them except the one he's missing (I think at least, I haven't paid a lot of attention to the other two he's gotten actually) are pretty good anyways. Also that was a strange bug with the five soul door in Ancient Chaos but I'm pretty ...

Re: What games are you playing?
Replaying Danganronpa again. I was going to see if you could max out all relationships (and thus get all skills and skill point increases) on a single playthrough. Turns out that's actually impossible. You only get three free time opportunities before the first three are killed off and you need eigh...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
Aten-Ra was a pretty fun boss in my opinion. He's a bit on the easy side despite his insta-death attack but he was one of the better designed bosses overall since he can be fun to fight unlike most. (Though I'm of the mind that Jormungand was the worst one of the lot. There's more difficult Guardian...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - oh
Well that was painful to watch. raocow, if even you are saying it feels bad, why don't you stop trying to brute force it and figure out the proper solution instead? You really gotta work on your tunnel vision when it comes to puzzles in games.

Re: Yoshi's Archipelago - Mekanos
raocow, why take a death to get an ice flower when you could just collect the SMB2 mushroom first? The SMB2 mushroom doesn't just duplicate your current powerup, it counts as a mushroom as well if you don't have one.

Re: La-Mulana 2 - just a bad use for your condiments
Even days that don't feel like progress are, nevertheless, important progress. It's a rather large design flaw when significant portions of the game feel like that though. I personally spent about 90% of the game feeling like I'd barely accomplished anything in my 2-4 hour play sessions. And that's...

Re: the end of a-side
Personally I like the idea of the Mario contest weekends. While you do play a lot of really good non-Mario games, a lot of people did start watching you for the Mario. So having it too rare would probably be an issue for a decent amount of people.

Re: What games are you playing?
I got reminded that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night now has a randomizer mode so I decided to give it a try. It's actually pretty fun (mostly because I got the best mobility shard, High Jump, early on as well as some really decent mid to late-game equipment) but there's one really dumb issue. For ...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - that's going to fall down and smash a guy
raocow, the reason your npc entries keep getting reset is likely because of a bug that seems to have not been fixed. Rather than checking if you have an entry before giving it to you, every time you talk to an npc it just gives you the glossary entry again which resets it to unread. Also you solved ...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - game changer right here
I enjoy how raocow can remember minor details about what the wheel in Valhalla from over a week ago. Remember a split-gate checkpoint, which I don't think he used before, causing him to wander into Pushan's room for a relevant hint. But then claims he can't remember a thing the double jump would be...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - he's riding his sweet dragon-cycle
In most of those cases, the issues you mentioned can be counteracted with subweapons. That's not really the case for LM2 bosses though which are frequently completely out of range. The below doesn't cover every boss, just some specific additional observations re: subweapon use on guardians (as I do...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - he's riding his sweet dragon-cycle
I fought Jormungand for the first time in the very first released game build. He was entirely pattern-based then, and he's been entirely pattern-based in every other build where I've fought him. It's a *long* pattern, but a pattern all the same. Edit for clarity: When I say he's been entirely patte...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - he's riding his sweet dragon-cycle
but there's no rng in this fight. he always does the same thing in the same order every time. If that's the case now then they changed the fight some time after I fought him. Because when I fought him, it was completely random what he'd do. I had multiple attempts against him where I'd fight him fo...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - he's riding his sweet dragon-cycle
raocow, you should pay more attention to your messages from npcs. You missed that you got two when you entered Indra's altar. Also Jormungand is a shining example of why pretty much all the bosses in this game are inferior to LM1. Jormungand is basically Palenque except notably worse since you can e...
