Re: All the S@nics - McDonalds Games - SEGA Game Slime

I wonder if they gave boys the Amy/Rouge tennis game or if it was one of those explicitly gendered toys where you had to ask for either the boys or the girls Happy Meal.

That Sons of Perdition song sounds a bit like Leonard Cohen.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy - Galaxy of Electric Wave Gizmos

raocow speculating on what a speedrun of the bubble section would look like was some prime foreshadowing.

Re: All the S@nics - McDonalds Games - SEGA Game Slime

I think the glove superimposed over the bleachers in the background is probably supposed to be a reference to the giant old-timey glove in the outfield of Sonic's hometown stadium in San Francisco, and the green patch around it is probably just as far as they got before their free trial of Photoshop...

Re: Copy Kitty HARD - the last Boki we will ever see...

I've always looked forward to seeing Copy Kitty pop up again on raocow's channel, so it's a little sad that this is probably the last run. Not sad enough to tamp down the joy of unbridled destruction, though.

Re: Hole New World, A - If Only

Ignoring a leading "A/An/The" when alphabetizing titles is pretty standard. I thought that first diamond was kind of a mean set up where it baits you to jump off the roof to get it and it turns out to be over a hole you can't see (which raocow narrowly managed to avoid), but then it turned...

Re: Momodora 4: Reverie Under the Moonlight - Mo' Reverie, Mo' Problems

It has been a while since i've seen this game and i actually forgot how it ended. I really like the game though and was happy to see raocow play it, and now that it is my divinely sacred duty i'll be sure to remember the details better. I only now realized the video title theme is hockey teams. Is t...

Re: Momodora 4: Reverie Under the Moonlight - Mo' Reverie, Mo' Problems

Momodora takes a lot of inspiration from Cave Story. It's especially evident if you play the first game, which almost looks like it could be a Cave Story mod.

Re: All the SOUPER S@nics - Unleashed (WiiS2) - Strut on a line, it's discord and rhyme

Canadians love SEGA-style fonts for sports logos. I think it's probably better than the Walgreens option Americans go for.

Re: THE Last Non-Sonic Super Until Mania - Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood - Boingkidding

Sonic Chronicles had kind of the perfect ending. Like, if at some point you realize your game has gone irreparably off the rails, you can try to salvage what is left with an ok ending that you can only hope will be forgettable. Or you can lean into the spectacle and burn everything down with a tacit...

Re: Outer Wilds - The World • XXI: The Journey is Complete

The Nomai are one of the coolest fictional species. It really hits hard that they were pretty much the perfect "chosen ones" only to die tragically to a cosmic horror before they could complete their mission. They did wind up finding the Eye in the end at least. This was a great game for a...

Re: All the S@nics - Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood - Lara-Sued

For example, where raocow goes up two cliffs via springs here, if he had jumped back down toward the camera, he would fall a while to the base of each cliff. But instead he jumps off the back, and it just instantly plops him on the road in the background as if depth doesn't exist anymore.

: I would be glad to reward you with the finest gift of all: knowledge...Eh on second thought, here have a consumable . Re: Outer Wilds - The Bell Tolls

I appreciate that the Nomai are generally cognizant of the environments they are exploiting and take efforts to minimize the damage, like when they relocate the plants.

Buttons hands down deserved first chair in the elk choir. Stellar performance there.

Re: Toree 3D (and friends) - there's a cool little bird with sunglasses

I like how this game subverts the convention of hiding its seams and instead encourages you to explore backstage to see all the janky cut-off polygons and painted backdrops while falling through set pieces that don't have interactions programmed (not being sarcastic, it really fits the game's aesthe...

Re: Outer Wilds - Recesses of Your Own Mind

raocow once again nailing it with inferring what was in the sarcophagus. This is such a beautiful ending to the DLC. Seeing everything you've pieced together throughout the game laid out like that tied everything together, and actually getting to communicate with the prisoner was such a cool moment....

Re: Outer Wilds - Death • XIII: Free from the Past

That laser grid background was extremely common for school photos or mall portrait studios back in the day and is the kind of thing people look back on and laugh at for how dated it looks now. The hidden portrait is probably just an Easter Egg joke about that. I don't think i would have discovered t...

Re: Outer Wilds - Death • XIII: Free from the Past

I am genuinely amazed raocow intuited the death trick. His deductions throughout the whole game have been great and it's really enhanced the LP.

Re: Outer Wilds - Third Time's a Charm

If they ever escape this time loop and don't blow up with the solar system, the rest of the Hearthians are going to be amazed at what our hero has managed to accomplish without ever learning to land their ship safely.

Re: Outer Wilds - Deciphered Reality

Another indication that you didn't just go to a different place within the same reality is how densely populated the sky there is with stars (which, notably, aren't blowing up). I'm curious now where your ship's tracking system will point if you mark the home-world locations. Feldspar would probably...

Re: Outer Wilds - From Another Time

The DLC feels like an entirely new game, so i think tackling it all at once rather than interspersed with everything else has been a good choice. The DLC has done a great job of telling its story without text. Little details like how the elk-owls kept pursuing the lamp project after the results of t...

Re: Mega Man Legends - Digging Up a Classic

One thing that i think makes the various MegaMan IPs feel distinct is that each IP's MegaMan is clearly a different character, and the settings are also fairly different. Whereas the Sonic franchise goes through various genres but since it keeps building on the same core cast, those games feel less ...

Re: Outer Wilds - Fortune or Fate

Even though the fate of the third escape pod has been discussed by other Nomai, it definitely creates a sinking feeling when you find it in Dark Bramble and all the names are people who haven't left any record elsewhere in the solar system. The instruments-for-signals gimmick jumped the shark with v...
