Re: 3000 Fails in Search of Demo

Every step, there should be a midpoint. As we know that raocow always dies right before the midpoint, it will be a never ending string of deaths!

Personally, I'll toss my hat in the ring for more VIP.

You mean Grunty's Revenge?

Or was there an isometric part that I missed in that game?

Re: The magical GMC Jam(s)

I'm getting flashbacks of those Spyro games on the GBA. It's hard to tell if it's a platform close enough to jump on or just a really tall platform several squares away. There's no actual depth, it's only an illusion of depth that fails in many aspects. I tried the first and it's basically unplayab...

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

3. Move the Bison fight to the end of the rematch stage NO. A big boss right after refights is an abomination and just about the only thing I really, really hate about the Zero games. Refights are boring and shitty to begin with, a slog through old ground, I don't want to have a boss afterwards whi...

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

Blanka's level is probably the best of the original 8 (okay, in the game, then). Sensible enemy placement on varied platforms and spikes and water and a meaningful path choice? Sounds like something I'd actually want to play. I'm even willing to excuse the stupid constant spawning of enemies from th...

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

Finally watched today's video that I had queued up hours ago. Rose is actually kind of annoying with her weakness if you don't know how to use it, and even though the game shows you how to use it in the demo unlike the fire, it's still not a button combination I was thinking of using at the time fo...

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

C. Viper's stage consists of problems. Mainly: The elevators are wonky as hell (and can even kill you), and the Joes take too long to fire so it's just tedious getting through a level consisting entirely of them . I do think the laser section is pretty well done, but the rest, again, is just hilario...

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

Also a pet peeve of mine: Chankeys (or whatever else) coming up from pits with no way of being able to tell that the pit is trapped beforehand. That shit needs to stop. Having finally played Mega Man 10 this month, I've got to bring up that someone at Capcom has an absolute hard on for this thing. ...

Rolento - a stage built around enemies that are just not all that threatening. The problem with the Mets here is that the ground ones almost force you getting hit because they only are vulnerable for a millisecond, so once the falling platforms start, there's no way but perfect timing to get through...

So, asking while we are ahead: do the password save between the stages of the last world or must I expect to do that whole thing in one shot? There are no passwords for in-between "Wily" stages, so have fun with that. More stage comments appearing here soon wooo! Simon EDIT: So, in Ryu's ...

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

Everything in Urien's stage dies to a single charged shot. Also apparently you can shoot your own reflected bullets out of the sky. HM. I do like the reworked ladder mechanics (diagonal movement, for instance), other than that, this stage again is nothing to really write home about.

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

I always say that a level that is so bland that it is completely unmemorable is actively worse than one that's atrocious and you hate it, but at least gives you some... emotion . Also, if you have a Mega Man game, it will always have to stand up to comparison with other games of that name, seeing as...

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived

This game, sadly, is not even close to good. The level design of today's stage is a pretty damn bad example for how low it can sink, but none of the other levels (of the original 8, at least, I haven't been able to force myself through those completely, but I saw every boss) really stand out as anyt...

Re: VIP 1 - Three time's the charm!

The fact that raocow didn't show like 40 deaths probably helps with people being more moderate in criticising the level. Unless I'm misinterpreting that life counter.

For what it's worth, I can't help admiring your tenacity.

Re: VIP 1 - Three time's the charm!

Underground River reminds me a lot of a Sonic level. Multiple levels, you can get from one to the next, some are easier, some are harder, and it's a lot of small little level design elements rather than big, well-defined obstacles. Quantity over quality, basically. I think just playing through it wo...

Re: Mega Man: Lime in the Daylight 2 - Sequelising it up, yo

Out of curiosity, did the Yellow Devil Mk II have a weakness in this one or not? I ask because I used the same "Metal Man or bust" strategy that raocow stuck with throughout. Air Man, but with the added stream of bullets instead of just one from normal to hard, standing still to whoosh mi...

Watching this, it occurs to me that I don't remember the Mega Man 3 Wily castle at all . That turtle boss got me when I played because I got careless at the very end. He tries to pick you up and smash you into the wall for an insta-kill. In fact, from here on out, I had quite a bit of trouble with the bosses. The next one in particular took all my E-Tanks to beat. You and me both. I di...

Re: Mega Man: Lime in the Daylight 2 - Sequelising it up, yo

I've noticed that bullets stay on the screen if you switch characters (at least Heat Man's flames do). That creates some interesting options for a TAS… would it be possible to steamroll bosses by basically unloading all shots at the same time? They still would have invincibility, right? I like the ...

Re: Mega Man: Lime in the Daylight 2 - Sequelising it up, yo

I'd like to see more Bubbleman and Flashman… their shot types seem kind of fun. Playing as them, sadly, isn't. Bubble is too slow and unwieldy. You'll miss more often than not with Bubble's weird arc, and Flash's spread hurts more than it helps. They're still decent and usable, but not to play a wh...

Re: Mega Man: Lime in the Daylight 2 - Sequelising it up, yo

The second fight is ass, but the first one is a neat concept and I don't think it's even badly done at all. I really like fights where the terrain is as much your enemy as the actual boss; Hyleg Ourobockle from Zero 2 is my favourite fight in the series for that reason. This here reminded me of a fi...
