Re: Super Meat Boy - some day we'll meat again
"Expert Remix" is also brutally hard even by this game's standards. Not recommended unless you want mr. cow to have a bunch of one-level videos in his short filler time

Re: Super Meat Boy - the end of the end of the end
It's pretty tight timing, but if you can do it consistently you're literally invulnerable to anything that will kill you outside of out-of-bounds death areas.

Re: SMW Remix - Welcome to 2003
You have to remember this was 2003 and the concept of "postgame" and "the real postgame" (especially in something as idiosyncratic as the SMW hacking community) were nowhere near as extensive as they are now.

Re: Super Meat Boy - cotton can be dyed in dark colours
The problem with patience is that it's just a fundamentally boring level. One of those cases I can definitely agree with the 'romhacky' label for Cotton Alley.

Re: Super Meat Boy - cotton can be dyed in dark colours
Salt Shaker is probably one of my least favourite levels.
The motion of holding away from the wall but still getting flung up always feels really awkward.
Also raocow, I believe the replay only shows the last 50 or 100 deaths. Something along those lines.

Re: Super Meat Boy - rapturiffic
My understanding is that he's so broken that beating a level with him doesn't count for unlocks. (I've barely played the game so I can't say for myself.) Also, raocow's beaten every level that lets him switch characters now anyways. Yeah. The Meat Ninja is the only remaining character but has the s...

Re: Super Meat Boy - rapturiffic
I think it's mostly because those kind of platforms demand timing to a beat rather than 'move as fast as you possibly can!'

Re: Super Meat Boy - this is totally like final fantasy 6
Also, you can tell what % of people used the achivement unlocker on this game as all the "clear ____ dark world without dying" achivements all have exactly 0.7% on them. I actually watched a live video of someone getting 'Girl Boy'/'Impossible Boy'. It was pretty amazing. I personally sta...

Re: Super Meat Boy - super won game
The people who laud it as the hardest thing in the game probably never got far enough into the dark world to see dark hell and dark rapture. Hell even dark salt factory has a fistful of levels that are about on par with this. Honestly, most of Dark Rapture's challenge comes from obtaining the remai...

Re: Super Meat Boy - Sawblades are important for jerky production
The way Edmund said it, around the time you reach Chapter 3, you should be able to beat Chapter 1's Dark World, when you reach Chapter 4, you should be able to beat Chapter 2's Dark World... etc. At least, that's how he supposedly approached it from a design standpoint. Yep. He said that in his blo...

Re: Super Meat Boy - Sawblades are important for jerky production
Also raocow, you were correct in the video - that's the first bandage that you require a double-jump type action to get.

Re: Super Meat Boy - High jumps and low hygiene standards
Hmm. Somehow I have Alien Hominid unlocked (and I didn't use any kind of cheats or hacks that I'm...aware of, at least), and I have the PC version. That's in *addition* to the PC-exclusive Josef. I wonder why... Yeah, Alien Hominid was added to be playable in all PC versions in the very last patch ...

Re: Super Meat Boy - High jumps and low hygiene standards
Looking at an FAQ, it seems like there are different characters unlocked depending on whether you're playing the PC or 360 versions. Kind of a shame, that. Yeah. It was part of an XBLA exclusivity thing. There's cheats for some (but not all!) of the XBLA characters in the PC version. Characters for...

Re: Super Meat Boy - High jumps and low hygiene standards
I have two comments: 1. Having loads of playable characters is a good thing because giving the player more options cannot possibly be a bad thing, but the fact this game is a precision platformer kind of discourages you from actually trying them out You really should, though! Despite the fact that ...

Re: Super Meat Boy - Would've expected a hospital to be more accomodating to skinless people
I am psyched for this Let's Play. Super Meat Boy is quite possibly my favourite platformer for the past decade and the game design (for the most part) should avoid the times when Mr. Rao gets stumped because he doesn't know what he's trying to do. He's good enough at platformers that he shouldn't ha...

Re: Never Again, raocow's in the top ten! He's been training
I think raocow's comment on the endgame existing was hilarious.
That being said, I'm still confused but I will enjoy more levels regardless.

Re: Never Again, raocow's in the top ten! He's been training
The solution to this problem is to objectively define fun.
"This level is 8.457 kilofunzies. Twelfth place!"
That'll solve all our problems.

Re: Never Again, raocow's in the top ten! He's been training
I just want to jump in and say it's not "people." It's like three, four persons max. The vast majority of us have been mostly positive with shades of criticism here and there. Yeah, absolutely. I've been following the thread the whole time. One of the benefits of actually registering was ...

Re: Never Again, raocow's in the top ten! He's been training
Having watched way too many raocow plays an 'x contest', I'll be completely honest. People are getting far too upset over particulars and I'll simply say - the content of this entire contest has been superb. Like, "I want to play this entire contest myself, even the low ranking ones" super...
