Re: Super Mario Bros. 3MIX - the boredom of samuel tanguay

not really as feasible in 2D as 3D, since most of the sensible "hiding spots" were already occupied by the star coins on each level. If you're slapping that all over a bunch of levels that weren't at all designed for it? Yeah, sure, but I sure that if you actually designed the game with t...

Re: Mega Man 9 - Retro Reboot

Only Roll feels angst, Megaman doesn't give a shit. Or even seem to understand. Upon hearing the news he says "They were supposed to be scrapped? So why are they going crazy?" hey, my guy maybe they want to live?? Maybe hearing Mega Man said this from Roll or Auto is why Dr. Light started...

Re: Super Mario Bros. 3MIX - over 9000 (galaxy)

Y'know, the fact of difficulty not being this thing's MO being brought up really made me realize something: I still don't really get the point of this thing. Like, the easy answer would be the spectacle of seeing all the stuff from various Mario games in Mario 3. But then you have all the glitchines...

Re: Mega Man ZX - There Can Be Only One

Personally, I think the Model F Pseudoroids are the hardest ones to get the Level 4 victories on. They just keep their weaknesses right out in the open way longer than the other styles. In Fistleo's case, it's his head, and he'll actually try blocking shots with it. Fun times. Oy. model f doesn't a...

Re: ><> Fish Seasoning 2 ><> ><>

My theory is that the "friction" part just, like, from the fact that they have actual velocity and stuff that speeds up and slows down. They have pretty dang advanced physics compared to most enemies, and it's not really hard to see the connection between that and friction. Especially when...

Re: Mega Man Powered Up - A Challenging Side Story

It's been forever since I've played this game but iirc isn't there some kind of speed setting for the pendulums in the level editor like with the block generators and conveyor belts? If so, that begs the question: why introduce them moving at max speed in the challenge mode??? i mean, they correctl...

Re: Mega Man Powered Up - A Challenging Side Story

One thing that always bugged me about the fact that the challenges just look like level editor levels ( and, yes, level editor levels do just look like that ) is that you can't actually set any goal to level editor levels besides "beat the boss!" ( granted you could still emulate "get...

Re: Mega Man Powered Up - A Challenging Side Story

It's worth remembering that the caveman that discovered making fire with flint was probably far more influential on the entirety of human history than the caveman that discovered making fire by being struck by lightning, even if the latter came first.

Re: Rayman Origins (please see manual for origin story)

yeah but i'm gay i mean, same but the game's art style doesn't really let me appreciate it and it's not like that sort of design couldn't be scrounged up from a million different sources if they really felt like they needed the extra sex appeal for ... whatever reason i feel like they could've gone...

Iirc, they actually have multiple routes they can take on non-hard difficulties, and you can use all of them in the level editor.

Re: Mega Man Powered Up - Back to the Beginning

Yeah, I think the best way to take the challenges would be to like, take the SMW first video approach and just do as many as you feel like. Some of them probably will take their own video from my own memory, but that's definitely a minority. ... then again, you might not want to trust my memory afte...

Re: Mega Man Powered Up - Back to the Beginning

If I remember correctly from my own playthrough of this game long ago, I don't think that digging attack is a thing outside of Hard mode. Or at least, Normal mode and beyond - I might've played exclusively on Easy back then because I, uh, sucked.

Re: Last Impact : Thirty-First DEFEAT THE GIANT SPIER MAN

Most spiders are solitary and cannibalistic, often males are at risk of being attacked or eaten by females when they approach them. This is actually a complete myth that only really has basis at times when the females are heavily stressed or starved, aka kept in poor captivity. It's a similar case ...

Re: Last Impact : Twenty-Eighth Cold Cash Clash

The difference here though is that crossing lava with the Ice Flower isn't necessary at all in Last Impact, it's more of a helpful easter egg than anything else I think it's more just outright laziness or an oversight. After all, dry ice is just recolored lava, so something that grants immunity to ...

Re: Last Impact : Twenty-Seventh Sting

Was the camera in the original SM64 just hardcoded to work well with each level or something? I always thought the camera in SM64 was really good and comfortable to use but the one in this game looks terrible and it doesn't feel like it's raocow's fault. The Lakitu cam specifically was a hybrid of ...

Re: Last Impact : Twentieth Desk Slam (this is crucial testimony, your honor)

professionals can develop a huge chunk of an entire game before they realize that the concept or execution just isn't that great, and all these assets sunk into it may not even get reused for a new spin He's not a professional, he's a hobbyist romhacker yes, and we're talking about scrapping a gues...

Re: Last Impact : Twentieth Desk Slam (this is crucial testimony, your honor)

This guy probably spent like 10 hours on this boss fight and you want him to go "some people who suck at this game might find this hard, I'll just scrap all this work" even before you get to what leet's saying, gov, this is literally part of game design hell, 10 hours is nothing - you can...
