Re: All The S@nics - 2 - I Could Go Super Sonic...

That 1-2 punch of Mystic Cave and Oil Ocean is my favorite part of Sonic 2. While the rest of the game isn't bad to me, it doesn't really hook me like all the other Genesis ones do for the whole finale deal. And it's a shame that DocFuture's version of Mystic Cave was not used in any of the remakes....

(12) Wily Machine #11 & Ending (Extra) Dr. Light's Trial Time to whoop Wily's backside into gear once again, and this time around, I mostly did a buster-only battle with him. In the second phase of the Wily Machine fight, you can shoot the gear legs down for an easier target, but that gives you les...

(10) Gear Fortress 2 - Maverne (11) Gear Fortress 3 - Refights The second Wily stage has a few moments where you have to be quick and efficient with your shots as a giant grinder tank is chasing after Mega. The rest of the stage is just a mix of odds and ends we've seen before outside of one last n...

(8) Torch Man (9) Gear Fortress 1 - Yellow Devil Mk. III Here are two stages where you're going to have to be both fast and efficient with your shots. You'll have to blaze a quick trail through the fiery forests of Torch Man's stage on multiple occasions to outrun a terrible tower of flames. To sho...

Re: What games are you playing?

Agreed on both counts with the map and items needing to be better specified and sorted. It got a bit tiring going to a list to make sure I crafted the right thing and wasn't something I had already used for something else, but all of that was extra, so I knew what I was getting into at that point. E...

Re: What games are you playing?

Been playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Ngiht a bunch when I can find the time. Easily one of the best Metroidvanias I've ever played. Seems to combine the best aspects of Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia which are my two favorite entries in the Castlevania series. Al...

Re: Yep. (NP: Mega Man 11)

(6) Block Man (7) Blast Man Block Man's considered the starting pick by a lot of players, but as was pointed out to me, it was the demo stage. Still, I wouldn't exactly go busters blazing in this one as it's easy to get ambushed by blocks or those enemies that phase in, has a pretty tricky miniboss...

Re: All The S@nics - 2 - I Could Go Super Sonic...

In Sonic 1 (with the odd exception of Spring Yard Zone as stage 3) you had a pretty consistent, gradual progression from natural environments to more urban ones. You also had the day to night progression. Morning in Green Hill, midday in Marble, evening in Spring Yard, whatever in Labyrinth, nightt...

Re: What games are me playing?

I've never, for the life of me, been able to get into Castlevania. Is there something I'm missing? :ehh: maybe it's just not my thing? certainly feels that way I'm the same way about Pokémon. I get it and even enjoyed a semi-clone in World of Final Fantasy since catching monsters was the big part o...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Super Mario World Omega

Talking about the bean stuff from past locations isn't a spoiler, so we're good. If you start mentioning specific locations of them that are hidden or ones or definitely others in areas that have yet to be shown in the playthrough, then yes, those would definitely need spoiler boxes. Other than that...

Re: All The S@nics - 2 - I Could Go Super Sonic...

So how many save posts did rao skip today? I saw two. The thing is most of them are all really out of the way in Act 1 or come too soon to have 50 rings in Act 2. Act 1 has three, and you have to take the extreme lowest routes for both of the first two, and the third is pretty much right after the ...

Re: Yep. (NP: Mega Man 11)

(4) Impact Man (5) Acid Man Our next couple of vids are a tale of two stages. Impact Man was done at the tail end of our first playing session, and there are definitely some lapses in gameplay judgment at times on the lift sections. Those aren't easy to begin with thanks to all the projectiles bein...

Re: What games are you playing?

Well, Curse of the Moon took most of its cues off the two old-school style games I like the most in III and Rondo of Blood. This one feels like that mix of Symphony, Sorrow, and Ecclesia, my favorites of that style. I tried that whole not dying thing, but some of those bosses aren't being very coope...

Re: What games are you playing?

Going through Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It's basically taking what worked from Symphony, the Sorrow games, and Order of Ecclesia to make the kind of game I've been wanting to play for a while now. Some obtuse parts and iffy loading times when you die, but other than that, yeah. This is an e...

Re: Yep. (NP: Mega Man 11)

(3) Bounce Man The next couple stages are the ones I seem to struggle with the most. This one's more just trying to make the run look semi-efficient as the bouncy balls will send you flying all over the place if you don't know what you're doing. Hold the button down, you jump higher. Just let go of...

Re: Yep. (NP: Mega Man 11)

(2) Fuse Man Fuse Man is another decent starter stage pick since it's one of the only levels in the game with no pits or lethal spikes. Of course, you'd probably want to be more accustomed to the Double Gear System first, so that's kind of why I bump it to the mid-game usually. Not this time though...

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear

I never really cared for this one. It's just sort of a mess in a lot of aspects from the difficulty curve to the collecting the Emeralds to just being a level design mess. Sort of stopped after that point with the 8-bit/Game Gear games, but I think at least two of the three this Aspect company did a...

(Intro) Opening (1) Tundra Man As much as I wish I could talk over this one, I still need to save my strength for actual voice work. In the meantime, I had a chance to replay this game over the weekend and had a good time with it, so much so that I recorded footage of the run. Hadn't given it a go ...

Re: What games are you playing?

Yeah, it's the series' biggest detriment. I think by the time Dark Dawn came along and basically did the same thing, people had moved on. It was definitely good when it came out, but personally, I was kind of done when The Lost Age just kept doing that. Anyhoo, Mega Man 11 on the PS4. Halfway throug...

Alice wrote: How in the world does someone so consistently mix up two buttons?
I'd say playing three games a day would be a key in doing that. Also doesn't help when you feel like the buttons should be somewhere different. See Mega Man 9's start and select buttons being reversed for proof of that.

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear

You can skim off the top of the water if you have enough speed going. Makes Acts 1 & 3 fly by anyway. 2's a boring slog no matter how much you want it to go by faster. Next zone was also my stumbling block outside of a level select code thanks to the third act. It's really dumb.

Nintendo and Square really showed off a lot of neat stuff. I didn't pay too much attention to the other conferences, but yeah, that was a good showing of games from the both of them.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Rob-Omb's Quest

Bowser's Inside Story had the perfect balance of length and variety in gameplay that it worked for me. Dream Team's next with its biggest problem being that it's a bit too long in the teeth especially for one backtracking quest, but it was fun outside of that. Superstar Saga here is third and right ...
