Re: Yep. (NP: Mega Man 11)

(3) Bounce Man The next couple stages are the ones I seem to struggle with the most. This one's more just trying to make the run look semi-efficient as the bouncy balls will send you flying all over the place if you don't know what you're doing. Hold the button down, you jump higher. Just let go of...

Re: Yep. (NP: Mega Man 11)

(2) Fuse Man Fuse Man is another decent starter stage pick since it's one of the only levels in the game with no pits or lethal spikes. Of course, you'd probably want to be more accustomed to the Double Gear System first, so that's kind of why I bump it to the mid-game usually. Not this time though...

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear

I never really cared for this one. It's just sort of a mess in a lot of aspects from the difficulty curve to the collecting the Emeralds to just being a level design mess. Sort of stopped after that point with the 8-bit/Game Gear games, but I think at least two of the three this Aspect company did a...

(Intro) Opening (1) Tundra Man As much as I wish I could talk over this one, I still need to save my strength for actual voice work. In the meantime, I had a chance to replay this game over the weekend and had a good time with it, so much so that I recorded footage of the run. Hadn't given it a go ...

Re: What games are you playing?

Yeah, it's the series' biggest detriment. I think by the time Dark Dawn came along and basically did the same thing, people had moved on. It was definitely good when it came out, but personally, I was kind of done when The Lost Age just kept doing that. Anyhoo, Mega Man 11 on the PS4. Halfway throug...

I'd say playing three games a day would be a key in doing that. Also doesn't help when you feel like the buttons should be somewhere different. See Mega Man 9's start and select buttons being reversed for proof of that.

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear

You can skim off the top of the water if you have enough speed going. Makes Acts 1 & 3 fly by anyway. 2's a boring slog no matter how much you want it to go by faster. Next zone was also my stumbling block outside of a level select code thanks to the third act. It's really dumb.

Re: Video Game Commercials 2019 thread

Nintendo and Square really showed off a lot of neat stuff. I didn't pay too much attention to the other conferences, but yeah, that was a good showing of games from the both of them.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Rob-Omb's Quest

Bowser's Inside Story had the perfect balance of length and variety in gameplay that it worked for me. Dream Team's next with its biggest problem being that it's a bit too long in the teeth especially for one backtracking quest, but it was fun outside of that. Superstar Saga here is third and right ...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Rob-Omb's Quest

Yeah, I've been of that opinion here as I watched all five parts here today. Going for broke on the power sounds great until you eventually hit an enemy that can hit you and hit you hard, and enemies have been hitting him as you'd expect since he's not used to playing these types of games. It's kind...

Should have a bit more time to get to this later in the week. Wasn't doing the greatest on the first listen through, but we'll give it another go eventually.

Re: All The S@nics - 1 (8-Bit) - Bridging The Generation Gap

Interesting game. Never went through any of these ones fully since they didn't hook me in at the time. There's a good game here at times though. Looks like the only thing that changes if you have the emeralds is that dark cloud above the island goes away.

Re: JUMP arg(1+(√(-1)))*(2/π) - Half a jump is still a jump

I would hope everyone's made their point at this point. I'll admit. I've barely been following this series due to time and haven't looked at the thread at all, but enough already. One person doesn't like the difficulty, and I'm sure others agree. Others don't agree with that. Seems to be the gist of...

I'll being doing a mini-guide, like I've done before. This time it'll be just focused on the game's special attacks, as raocow unlocks them. You post major spoilers (plot or gameplay stuff that hasn't happened yet) without the proper ispoiler tags, you're getting a temp ban from here. Whether it's ...

Re: What games are you playing?

Nah, games like that are more of the exception than the rule from the old days. One of the reasons I haven't played Ninja Gaiden is because of the whole back to the beginning of the whole four-part stage deal if you lose even one life. Game over? Sure. But one life? Come on. Most games back in those...

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - The urge to build these fine things seemed not to be so strong

Yeah, this was the level I had to resort to switching from official game cart to *COUGH* with save states on. Fortuna, this, and even one later stage at a particular point were just asking way too much of my okay SNES Star Fox skills.

Re: All The S@nics - 1 - Dusting Doilies Since 1991

Yeah, Sonic 1's pretty fun, but I'm glad they add that spin dash in the sequel. Just opens things up way more. Green Hill > Star Light > Labyrinth > Scrap Brain > Marble > Spring Yard for the full zones. Not doing this for many games, but that's the Sonic 1 definitive zone tier list that isn't very ...

Re: All The S@nics - 1 - Dusting Doilies Since 1991

I don't think it's that big a deal, but even though you only get an alternate ending for clearing the game with all 6 emeralds, it still feels like you're technically missing out on some of the game's content since you never played the 6th Special stage. He played all six. They're in a rotation whe...

Re: All The S@nics - 1 - Dusting Doilies Since 1991

Outside of Green Hill, Star Light is the best stage when it comes to getting that speed and momentum going along with some occasional precision jumping. Always liked this zone the most after that first one because of that fact. Every other zone feels like you should take it very carefully to the poi...
