Re: A Lovely Boquet Of Roses - Advance - Legend of the Piko-Piko Middle School Students

Nah, most people like this game, at least the ones that enjoyed the Genesis games. It's the sequels that tend to get more negative opinions, and I kind of agree with that since they do more of the bad things that you saw pop up in this one occasionally with more frequency. It'll start out fun enough...

Re: A Lovely Boquet Of Roses - Advance - Legend of the Piko-Piko Middle School Students

Yeah, the real bad thing about Amy is her obsession with Sonic. That's literally her whole character until the later games. When they toned that down in later games, she got way better. Go figure.

Re: The Mega Man Playthrough Topic. Yep. (Currently: Mega Man 2)

(7) Bubble Man This was a tough video to edit, and it wasn't all that easy to play through either! There are so many little things in this level that can make things go wrong in a hurry. The teeny frogs, the falling blocks, but it's the shrimp that are the worst. Unlike most Mega Man enemies, these...

Re: A Lovely Boquet Of Roses - Advance - Legend of the Piko-Piko Middle School Students

Once you got the hang of using Amy there, you really got on a roll even if she can't do that on her own. Don't know how that will translate over into her final few stages, but she's definitely one of the more fun oddball gameplay styles they came up with.

Re: What games are you playing?

Finally getting around to the Collection of Mana games on the Switch. Starting out with Final Fantasy Adventure. About halfway through that one already since I'm 100% using a guide to not get lost. Had already beaten Secret of Mana on the SNES Classic, so I'd move on to the SNES version of Trials of...

Re: A Thousand Miles - Advance - Shinji Ikari Raising Project

Cool. You know about Sonic's mid-air dash, but he also uses the B button for combos. B+B is a quick little somersault forward, and you can B a third time for a sliding kick for ground-based enemies (perfect on the snowman dudes in Ice Mountain) or A after that B+B combo to do a backflip which doesn'...

Re: What games are you playing?

Sporty McSportsports here with an update on NFL games in the late 90s. GameDay 99 (PS1) had some good defensive AI at times but was prone to giving up a big play when it was your turn to make a big stop even on the second lowest difficulty of four. You could turn down how often teams passed or ran, ...

Re: A Thousand Miles - Advance - Shinji Ikari Raising Project

After beating the game as the other two, you will have to play X-Zone as Sonic again. It's like how Sonic & Knuckles would end pre-Doomsday Zone in that regard. Edit: I have a question. Are we allowed to explain controls that are in the instruction booklet or would that count as a spoiler? It won't ...

Pretty sure he didn't have it as he mentioned it taking him five tries to succeed in the redo. Man, I'm really crossing my fingers on a save state. Re: A Thousand Miles - Advance - Shinji Ikari Raising Project

Yeah, the special stages in the Advance trilogy are crazy either to do or just even get to. 1 follows the "to do" style. I wish they were more generous on giving you rings that you should clearly be getting, but that's not the case.

Re: What games are you playing?

Doing a solo run of DKC: Tropical Freeze for the first time, and while it's clicking better, I just don't think it's on the same level of fun as the SNES games or Returns. Guess I'm just not a fan of collect this specific banana trail for a puzzle piece style of gameplay. Returns did that, too, but ...

Re: A Thousand Miles - Advance - Shinji Ikari Raising Project

You know the trick button for the twelve rings, but I believe the A button lets you sneak through certain spaces easier (could still be rough with the depth perception) while also speeding you up. The idea in most places is to just to use the springs to bounce you back for some ring patches, but you...

(6) Heat Man Whoa. Vids two days in a row? It's almost like we're taking this editing thing seriously again! It also helps that we were editing at the same time as the last one, and this stage also wound up being the fastest of the eight to do in the whole game. It's mainly because the only tricky ...

Re: What games are you playing?

That one's definitely a game where you need a map in advance (no pun intended this time) to see where the heck the SP Rings are at. It's even worse in Advance 3 which along with the awful gotcha traps all over the place level design is why I've never beaten that one. But I did beat Bloodstained: Cur...

Re: All The S@nics - Advance - Rebuild Of Pocket Adventure

I think you can duck the laser and just wait for when it's switching sides or going for the grab attack to get your hits in, but it's been about ten years since I played this one. And yes, Sonic Advance was a success for Sega and Dimps. It was one of the highest-selling third party games on the GBA ...

(5) Wood Man This stage is pretty fun. You have an assortment of animals that are spread out through a pretty varied stage in terms of both play style and visuals, and they're all pretty fun to deal with other than the third straight level of having to deal with the birds. It's also got our first m...

Re: What games are you playing?

So Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 is really good. It's basically more of Castlevania III with a new secondary cast. Some levels seem cheap at first, but the game's designed in mind for you to switch party members on the fly that it becomes more of a case of who to use and when. There's a pretty c...

Re: All The S@nics - Advance - Rebuild Of Pocket Adventure

The two parts I don't like in this stage are that one conveyor belt with the moving spring deal right on a bottomless pit in the outdoor area. Thankfully, that can be cheesed by hopping up and spin dashing left, up, and around that trouble. The other part is that one spring that leads you into the s...

Re: All The S@nics - Advance - Rebuild Of Pocket Adventure

I liked the way it looked in the first video personally. Doesn't have to be an 100% authentic recreation, and I'll be honest, don't even remember what the game looks like when played off of a GBA screen other than it's in 240x160 resolution. Ha-ha.

Re: What games are you playing?

And playing Gunvolt 2 caused me to go through the shorter but just as fun spin-off game with Copen called Gunvolt Chronicles. If you like Mega Man X's whole air dash deal including diagonal ones with the art style of the Zero and ZX games, this one should click with you. It's got fun special weapons...

(4) Air Man For a stage set in the sky and filled with bottomless pits, this one's actually pretty simple both in terms of a normal run and this no-hit one. Outside the sections with the birds, you can take the level at a slow and steady pace, and as long as your aim's true, there's not going to be...

Re: All The S@nics - Advance - Rebuild Of Pocket Adventure

The original Sonic Advance is awesome. It's one of my favorite 2D Sonic games in a post-Genesis world, and it's because it's the only one from this developer that both tried something new while keeping it faithful to the old classics.
