Re: AZCT: A Zelda Classic Thing - Basic Planning Thread
Right, I should probably have posted about this a while ago, but I pretty much gave up on contributing anything a while ago. I have no idea how to do half-decent Zelda level design and CodeGorilla's Lens of Truth dungeon sounds conceptually like what I was going for with my thing, only actually good...

Re: EXCLUSIVE!! raocow plays romhack for third time
I think what he meant was that he just stopped bothering to commentate so he could practice the level for a fully-commentated run, then decided after about half an hour of not getting anywhere to just not bother with the fully-commentated run and bring in PPR on his first successful run.

Re: What games are you playing?
I've been hoping for a No Super Guide option since the Super Guide became a thing. Wouldn't even be hard to program, they're just astronomically lazy and/or don't realize not all their players are 6 years old and illiterate.

Re: Post-Game: Do We Want One (And What Would it Be?)
A-D would require a disproportional amount of work and will stall development. Maybe if we try to implement the "beat the game 8 times to unlock A-D" thing it would, but otherwise it's about as much work as any other bunch of levels. I mean I guess it making the post-game over half the le...

Re: Post-Game: Do We Want One (And What Would it Be?)
I'm in favor of a World 9, maybe A-D, too. As for a Minus World, I feel like that should be hidden somewhere rather than put in as a postgame thing. Also it should end with either an infinitely-looping level or deliberately crashing SMBX because one's an homage to the original and the other's a fitt...

Re: What games are you playing?
Get back to me when you try to get all of the Manhatten gaps. The naming sense in this game is quite... meh. Yeah, I'm noticing that now. Just looking through Manhattan and Tampa there's the Mike Vallely gap and all Tampa's food-related ones that don't seem to have anything to do with anything, it'...

Re: What games are you playing?
I "beat" Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 100%. By which I mean I got tired of trying to look for the last few gaps and looked up where they were. Turns out half of them were stupidly obscure and the other half were blatantly misnamed. And also all the minigames are both terrible and required. Goo...

Re: EXCLUSIVE!! raocow plays romhack for third time
I like how every level of Thirdspace seems to end with just randomly throwing a Chain Chomp in there for no reason. If Thirdspace itself ends with one as a completely out-of-nowhere custom boss it's going to pretty much make my entire week.

Unless you need a program or something that you absolutely have to have 8 for or you actually like its interface for so...

Re: EXCLUSIVE!! raocow plays romhack for third time
I notice that the hopping fireball thing is sometimes immune, and sometimes not immune to shells: is there a reason for this? I saw a pseudo-explanation one time, and it essentially has to do with what sprites are occupying what slots in the game's memory. I don't know WHY that would affect it, but...

Re: General suggestions thread
I do not agree that the concept is fine. I warned you guys earlier that a visual novel does not have to be a dating sim. This just sounded like a spur of the moment silly idea when I first saw it, and that's how I feel about it now. That was the entire point of this project, to just make something ...

General suggestion: don't do this. I can't believe so many of you thought Let's Make A Forum Dating Sim would go smoothly and without drama. This whole dating sim concept, the subforum itself, is like a giant ritual to invoke the dark gods of forum conflict. Even with Aspoke gone, other drama will ...
