Re: Custom music thread 2.0
I don't really remember those remixes, but I might be willing to do the third if someone fishes up the TXTs for them. In other news, it's time for me to finally play a slightly bigger role in A2MT. Here is the potential ice map theme I composed for it. All of the samples are SMW's minus the percussi...

Re: Custom music thread 2.0
Just finished porting rockdet's composition into SMW. Here is the result. As I said before, pretty good job with it. I've grown to not mind that lower flute after all.

Re: Custom music thread 2.0
Personally, I had no idea how the ticking P-Switch patch worked. Everyone kept telling me it was a custom SFX (which you just confirmed). Changing the sound effect to a default one would work though, and it would fix any sort of conflict between Carol's MORE.bin and the patch. That sounds like the b...

Re: Custom music thread 2.0
If you guys want the P-Switch ticking patch, it'll have to be Romi's MORE.bin, unless you really want to go through repointing every sample in every music TXT (and trust me, I've done it - it's way too fucking tedious). rockdet: yeah once you have a MIDI made up for it, you can PM it to me or whatev...

Re: Custom music thread 2.0
well it's not that you -can't-, it's that every single TXT file (music too) will have to use $E5 to manually point to the sample numbers - even the originals. I know a lot of people here don't really know how that works, so it would be more trouble than it's worth to use custom SFX -and- Carol's MOR...

Ah, I remember playing this game back when it first came out. It was loads of fun, though there were two trinkets I eventually gave up on trying to get.
Should be a fun LP to watch.

It's in the stickied addmusic help thread in the Advanced SMW Hacking forum over there. I've posted both Romi's and Carol's.

Re: Custom music thread 2.0
The arpeggiation is fine. It's mostly the first half of the song up until that point that the lower notes bug me. It could just be my personal taste, but I'm not fond of the particular harmonies made for that 15 second chunk or so. That, or it might sound better with SMW's flute (or even bass). By t...

The lower flute doesn't do it for me at all, but the rest is pretty nice. It reminds me of the Mushroom Kingdom theme from SMRPG.

Re: A2MT GFX Thread
So I've always been more interested in music than graphics (hence why I volunteered to do some of the map music), but now and then, I do try to draw. A while ago, I drew a ghost house/ship set (since SMWC's ExGFX section has very few, and .. well, SMW's are getting boring). I never actually released...

Re: smwcentral madness: Vanilla 2010
On a side note regarding the difficulty conversation: being the leader of An SMW Central Production, I get to see all of the levels, and I find it amusing how the end game levels I've received so far are actually more difficult than ASMT's end game stuff .. so I reckon there might be even more compl...

Re: Kirby's Dream Land 3
I just love how Kirby games work. It's always insanely easy and cute for the entire game, and then it suddenly goes all demonic and hard for the final portion.
I think I prefer K64's final battle over this game's, though.

as for the judgings on this level - aside from the blinking seizure hellstorm (which, yes, DID degrade the score), the level itself was pretty decently designed.

Even with 1.7, that seems like it would be a giant space-eater.
Granted, if he is using the VRAM method that edit1754 came up with involving unlimited background space or whatever...

Re: Hack of another kind
I worked with EggVine for 2+ years to produce YI: Kamek's Revenge (one of raocow's older LPs as well). That alone taught me that Lunar Magic is a blessing. Trying to work with squares, having ROM-corrupting crashes around every turn, and random errors that make literally no sense gets the better of ...

Re: smwcentral madness: Vanilla 2010
I do find it rather strange that nobody reported that level to any of the judges though until now. I mean, a load of people actually played through the contest levels, so surely one of those people had to have played CC before. I am actually kinda surprised either of you are still posting here after...

Re: smwcentral madness: Vanilla 2010
How did you beat that level, anyway, SNN? You know that grey turnblock bridge at the beginning of the area? Step on it and then run to that silver P-Switch fast enough so that you can use it to "lever" yourself up to the higher platform. After that, just jump over the roof to the left. Th...

Re: smwcentral madness: Vanilla 2010
If I recall that level at all, it was fun and rather nicely made for the first few screens, and then it just started turning into a clusterfuck of sublevels which killed the score.
I don't remember getting stuck at the airship part, although I recall it ends shortly after that.

Re: Custom music thread 2.0
There is no set way to "figure it out". The instruments you need to use changes with each song. You need to set all of that yourself on each channel. If you're going for accuracy, you'll want to find which SMW sample is the closest to the original sample, and work off of that as your base ...

I like that title screen. It reminds me of scenes in one of those old space-related shows. The text for the "Super Mario World" and copyright info at the bottom clashes a bit, but it still looks good overall.

Re: smwcentral madness: Vanilla 2010
I really like it when people have no idea what they are talking about and try to argue that a level isn't vanilla. Purple blocks = muncher edits; original GFX. Thwimp GFX = glitched castle set GFX. Those grey blocks = two sides of the brown log. also posted on yt for the sake of shutting people up. ...
