Re: This is Not the Greatest Game in the World, No, This is Just a Tribute
You would have seen what was going on with the jittering background in 7-4 if you died. Basically what happens in 7-4 is that the start of the level and end of the level are always the same sections, but the three sections that make up the middle of the level are in a random order each time you play...

Re: SDS 2
Or you could just stop replying to Ningamer and do something actually productive. Thanks Shemp and Tiki, that's very handy! I think/agree that we should space out the 'introductions' of everything more than SMB2 did. 1-1 for example more or less introduced all of the 'special' items (POW block, bomb...

Re: Majora's Mask 3D Announced
Zelda 2 had an upgrade system, and Zelda 1 had grinding to buy things to be better. Sure, it's not to the extent of an RPG, but it's getting there, and Elder Scrolls is moving away from RPG at the same time. I don't think it's implausible that a Zelda series that stayed focussed on combat could have...

I made a document showing when things get introduced in SMB2, like we had for SMB1. It also shows the theme of each world and what each level's boss is (and miniboss(es) when appropriate). https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B01iZTUJmEBrVEdGelhURnlJdHM/view?usp=sharing You forgot to mention the warp i...

you guys sure do love the worst enemy in the whole engine Much like lakitus, they're great for making people (including myself) panic far more than is actually justified by their threat. Also I really like that underground statue level. The statues getting progressively more oddly-shaped, combined ...

Re: Majora's Mask 3D Announced
Eh, if that was the case then there would be a lot more "good" 3D Sonic Games. Although that series suffers in 3D more due to the fact that he's supposed to be all GOTTA GO FASTER than the fact it's a lot harder to make an adaptive AI when you need to take 3 dimensions into account. Isn't...

Re: Majora's Mask 3D Announced
Now, having enemies swarm you in the 3D games wouldn't work. Imagine fighting 2 or 3 Stalfos Knights in Ocarina, all that have full agro? That sound frustrating to me. That's why others will back off when you Z target on the one you want to focus on. If by "frustrating" you mean "not...

5-2: I failed to realize that the music wasn't switched to the snow music. Oh well. This is probably one of my favourite levels in the game. Something to add to the fix list for 1.1 then. World 5 is definitely "oh shit it's serious now" world. That's two talkhaus games in a row now to spi...

Re: Majora's Mask 3D Announced
I'd just like to say that doing a 3D Zelda in the style of the first two (more specifically, in the style of Zelda 2) has already been done quite a few times. It's just called the Elder Scrolls series. Except for the two that were called Dark Souls.

Re: Majora's Mask 3D Announced
Combat sure, Zelda combat has always been pree simple, sadly enough. But as for maps and exploration wouldn't Wind Waker and LTTP stand as just very much better? Always kinda despised Zelda 1's hidden caves and arbitrary puzzles, which they improved upon and fixed in later editions of the series so...

Re: Majora's Mask 3D Announced
and I realize that we still haven't gotten a better Zelda experience then the very first game in the series. No other Zelda game touches Zelda 1's combat, and arguably Zelda 1's maps and exploration. You lost me about here yo. I severely question your opinions, but hey, opinions. In regards to the ...

Re: Majora's Mask 3D Announced
I'd say that sounds pretty nifty. My only problem with zelda 1, ala a lot of nes games, was a lack of direction, and I do appreciate some sort of direction, sort of ala the oracle games. Having absolutely no direction just makes me feel... way too lost. Also I don't know about the random generated ...

Re: AZCT: A Zelda Classic Thing - Basic Planning Thread
Here's a different version of the boss music. This one cuts out the section without the beat but adds in a new section without the circular riff and with a modified version of the second melody on the triangle wave. It also slightly changes the second melody. I think this version would be better fo...

"all about the bass" That song irks me on the grounds that she's singing in a treble register and, even ignoring that, there's a fair bit of treble going on. Is that petty? Or, even if it's just a metaphor for having a big butt (the bass) then who has a big butt without a big top (the tre...

Re: This is Not the Greatest Game in the World, No, This is Just a Tribute
Yeah, 1-4 was originally harder than pretty much anything up until 3-4 or so, so I'm glad that got nerfed. I don't remember much about 1-1 being changed significantly in content: the biggest change was that a lot of the content was rearranged to make the progression more logical. For example, do som...

Re: Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U: WARNING! 50+ FACTS APPROACHING!
Oh, that's what zoning means? Well, if I'm playing a ranged character - not that I do very much - then I stay back. I'm not going to deliberately play to my weaknesses by sending a shooter in to close-range or jumping around the place with Little Mac. And I suppose I strategise a little to the exten...
