Re: ASMBXT; World 8, some call it endgame
Woah what the heck my name's in the credits I feel kinda' bad for not commenting more on this playthrough thus far, but I have indeed watched it all. Overall, the level quality waves back and forth ridiculously, but I think that, ultimately, the higher-quality levels beat out those of ASMT, so I now...

Re: raocow Plays: ASMBXT World 3 exists? That's illogical!
"Oh, No! It's Lakitu!" used to be a lot tougher than what was seen in today's video, with no "someone hid something around here" junction between the two parts of the second half of the level to break it up and give a breather; it was one continuous raft ride, and it was quite ra...

Re: raocow Plays: ASMBXT There's a second world? Oh my.
I've gotta' hand it to you guys: my first impression of the completed project was not a good one, but the levels, custscenes, humor, and graphics have really stepped up since the very beginning and I very much look forward to every episode. I'd play it myself, but Etrian Odyssey IV currently owns my...

Re: raocow Plays: ASMBXT Prelude to the what the hell
Well, this is going to be fun. I look forward to actual stages, though the 1-1 remake was certainly clever. The only thing that would have made it better would have been mirroring all of the graphics! Not to be a huge ass, but someone did a lousy job of proofreading the "texboxes." Also, i...

Re: INTERMISSION
Kid Adventure looks to be all right. The level design could be spicier, but no real glaring flaws thus far outside of having to swim underneath muncher graphic swaps in a tide at the bottom of the screen. I wonder just how many SMW hackers have figured out that putting an autoscroll object in the mi...

Re: 3000 Fails in Search of Demo
raocow, if you need a spot to farm lives, don't forget about the world 1 castle. You can easily get anywhere from 40-60 lives there with the disco shell and bullet bill generator in the hallway leading to the boss before time runs out. The difficulty of the game seems to be picking up, and it sucks ...

The air meter thing isn't really that farfetched. If it decrements a counter every number of frames, then two of them will decrement that counter twice as quickly!

Re: 3000 Fails in Search of Demo
The inability to recover health easily after powering up with the health meter patch is a very common complaint, leading me to believe that it is, indeed, a limitation of said patch. It's unfortunate, because I think it'd be a pretty sweet system with a few tweaks here and there.

Re: 3000 Fails in Search of Demo
Oh hey look, a random lives farming spot at 8:55 in today's video. Not the best place due to the time limit (though I can squeeze about 40-50 lives out of it after restarting from the midpoint) nor am I sure this game will be difficult enough to warrant its use, but hey, it's there!

Re: Street Fighter X MegaMan - A new challenger arrived
Like, that's a graphical limitation of the NES... Not even. The only time the energy bars flashed in the NES games was when they specifically used Megaman's palette. This is more like the author wanted to simulate the NES and then got lazy with the implementation (or maybe he thought it looked cool...

Passwords. I wasn't aware it was 1988. You shoulda' seen it before. The game was intended to be finished in a single sitting and had no saves or passwords. Good thing raocow waited around for this version! I have little understanding of why Capcom picked this over say Day in the Limelight which is ...

If I'm remembering correctly, several of the koopalings share HP, so the likes of Morton and Roy taking extra hits to kill always foreshadows the same for Ludwig (and vice versa).

Re: SBMX: Tower of Biased 2 - a contest of sorts!
A level by a guy called Magus that uses Chrono Cross music? Inconceivable! What can be said? Today's was yet another level marred by the lack of multiple midway points in SMBX. For a level taking place in such a watered-down forest, it was pretty great (believe me, I know all about those watery fore...

Re: SBMX: Tower of Biased 2 - a contest of sorts!
I liked today's level until raocow got to the midpoint. It completely wore out its welcome, then the difficulty ramped up so much at the end that it trashed my opinion of it. I'd much rather a level have one GOOD boss than several mediocre ones, as well.

And that graphic of the boss! Like, it would have been cool if it had just crossed the screen once, but having it just STAY there until the boss room, buzzing around the entire time, seems silly and overly distracting. That level and its boss are direct references to Metroid Fusion. In that game, t...

Re: SBMX: Tower of Biased 2 - a contest of sorts!
I'm trying to figure out how today's straightforward grass level scored higher than the other day's straightforward forest level. Other than the difficulty being more palatable for the early game, I didn't notice any distinct advantages it could have had. Too bad the Boo Mario level had to get all c...

...and it had awesome music that I never heard of before, where was it all from? Both of the level songs are from Castlevania: Symphony of the NIght. I'm really tempted to play this myself and see how the levels scale with the scoring. I've already watched a video of the champion-tier level, and I'm kinda' surprised it made it there when the entire second half of the level uses a very...well, let's say "interesting" (to be extremely vag...

Re: The not quite as much Drama thread with added Mistery
Actually, now that I think about it, twromps are starting to get tiring. Why do people use them when there are perfectly good dinotorches? I agree, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the health system, which changes up the dynamic of the enemies considerably. Before, all foes dealt the same &quo...

Hey look, a new thing. I'm an episode behind because of family stuff. Anyway, the guys in the Dark Bowser fight that raocow thinks are pretty neat are some mook enemies from the second half of Zelda II. So far, I can't say I agree with this arrangement where the levels are placed in order from worst...

Re: The not quite as much Drama thread with added Mistery
Suddenly, a detour! It's probably obvious from the geography, but there are no secret exits in the special world here. Also, it's debatable which branch of the game raocow could take at this point is more anticlimactic, but I would say that the bonus world edges out the main game ever so slightly fo...
