Positive votes for it total at 14.
Also, Djinn had to edit his thing a bunch, so make sure to count his thing too raocow

Re: Rex Rocket: vas chiez
raocow, I suggest you get more comfortable with the third jump provided by your charged gun shot or that third section is going to continue to bash your face in. You really need to be comfortable with all your mobility options if you want to beat that third section and from the video it seems that y...

I really liked the Tower. It would be a terrible level in the main game, but it works well as a postgame level. The Coliseum on the other hand ...

Re: Abducted Toad - gasp! the postgame!
Oh, they certainly are big areas. As someone who beat the game I'm predicting one video for the Coliseum and another video for the tower. raocow might squeeze them both into one video, but I doubt it.

Re: request grab-bag
The developer behind Rex Rocket has a new game coming out this fall. Mainly posting this before I forget; I'll definitely make sure to have this in the next B-side patreon poll (if raocow doesn't outright decide to play it) z94Vfx6uPVI That looks fantastic. It's surprising given the indie boom just...

Re: Rex Rocket: game got harder
Game completed. The optional items helped with the final boss; more important was to develop and execute an effective strategy. I enjoyed playing this and am glad I bought it. And I'm looking forward to the rest of raocow's LP! Yeah, I just beat the game too. Rex Rocket certainly has its rough spot...

Re: Rex Rocket: legos in space
Having played through two boss fights so far, I can say that (1) the writing hasn't yet improved and doesn't seem likely to improve, but more importantly (2) the platforming and fighting feels tight, fun, and challenging. And there seems to be a *lot* of secret stuff/optional routes scattered aroun...

Re: JUMP - actually stands for "Janky Unfair Masochist Postgame"
Does the post-game really need to be playable by everyone? I quit playing at Depraved Stronghold because I realized that the post-game was either going to be beyond my abilities or not fun for me to play. Volgarr the Viking has extra stages that are only accessed by beating the normal levels without...

Re: JUMP - actually stands for "Jolpe Utterly Made Poop" and maybe "Jolly Upsetting Moving Podoboos"
raocow really doesn't seem to like the idea of unrelated content joined together. This was shown in the S. Mario thread four years ago. Maybe the longer rooms in Shattered Dreams could have had soft checkpoints/alterations using 1-ups? I don't think raocow's personal opinions should be used to dict...

Re: JUMP - stands for "Just Understanding Morsel's Palace"
The point of the level is to create this exact feeling - basically to get the player to play super carefully with sweating hands and heavy breaths on the verge of a panic attack, unsure if they'll make it on this attempt or if they'll be stuck on the level for another four hours. That's exactly how...

Re: JUMP - stands for "Just Understanding Morsel's Palace"
Argh I should have updated this level, simple as that. It's kinda a mishmash of ideas in which I focus more on unique use of vanilla than how fun it is to pull off, so construction wise I still appreciate it but it ends up having too much unnecessary gunk. I won't be too harsh on myself since it's ...

my level today is bleh. It's just there and existing. Nothing special at ALL. (I already made levels for this when it still was the "make a vip style game" thing) I enjoyed playing your level. The only real problem that I had with it was the extreme difficulty whiplash. The first half is ...

Yeah, same. But they are two very different levels, so it makes sense that someone's skills might be better suited for one or the other.Jolpengammler wrote:It's kinda weird but I find raptures of the deep harder than disco party, I mean disco party is short and once you get disco riding it's really easy :o

Yeah, same. I prefer to spread the hard levels out rather than play them all together at the end of the game. I don't want to get overwhelmed.cozyduck wrote: Anyways, as far as I'm concerned I prefer playing them as I unlock them just so I don't need to play too many hard levels back to back in the end.

The level was barely a minute long. A single mushroom is more than fair for a post-game level.Razzling wrote:This level really shows what I mean when I say a lack of powerups really is fake difficulty.

It''s a solid mechanic. Instead of treating midpoints as a guarantee, it treats them as a bonus. Getting a midpoint in a hard level feels like an accomplishment and it's a far greater reward than a 1-up or a moon.Sebby19 wrote:For some strange reason, hard to get midpoints appeal to me.

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Lluvia Ácida
So the powerup to break those chicken-egg-lookin' purple blocks is entirely optional right? Because I got up to what looks very much like The Room Before the Final Boss and don't have it (I assume it's equivalent to the morph ball bomb) Don't spoil how to get it, but I think I might know anyway.
