Re: The End Of The World!!!

In case you guys didn't know, on December 21st there will be a duo concert with Rebecca Black and Justing Bieber.

Sounds like the end of the world to me.

Re: Touhou Danmaku Hell - Success and Failure Stories

As far as I can see, Stage 4 should be consistently clearable with 3 bombs, and often an extra bomb for the last three big fairies which are easy to make a mistake at. A miracl sometimes (rarely) happens at the first waterfall (there's often some kind of opening on the left edge of the screen...), a...

Re: Touhou Danmaku Hell - Success and Failure Stories

So, I practiced a bit (a lot) of Kanako today, and, amazingly enough, I am now EXTREMELY consistent at everything she throughs at you except for VoWG! So I will remove any approval of gamercal's previous criticism and say that she's a very fair final boss. Well except for Yamato Torus. But man, I'm ...

Re: ascetic super mario world: a reckless disregard for points

Congrats for finishing this!

I have to say, I was skeptic of this at first, but as it turns out, this game is great for an ascetic run. It was a very entertaining playthrough and also nostalgic, just awesome all the way. Yay!

Re: Touhou Danmaku Hell - Success and Failure Stories

The only part were I strongly disagree is on Aya - I think that she's fair when compared to the other stage 4 bosses in the series (even though one might say that they're all too hard!). Also I think Kanako is kind of mostly fine. The middle isn't THAT hard even though it's annoying as hell - wrong ...

Yeah I can't disagree with what you said. And MariC is indeed great, not going to suggest you change for this game!

Re: HIB4 Cont'd - Enthralling keyboard vs controller debate!

Something that doesn't count for old games is that with a controller you have analog control and with a keyboard only digital. So with a controller you can control your speed a lot better. Not to mention 360 degree control. I thought it was assumed that we were talking about digital stuff. Otherwis...

Re: HIB4 Cont'd - Enthralling keyboard vs controller debate!

But why is it generally agreed upon that controllers are better for platformers? I think this would require some pretty intense analysis on how using just the thumb and moving it around would be more natural/comfortable/better than having different fingers perform different stuff... ? I honestly fin...

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle 4

Would this thread be a good place to start a keyboard vs controller debate?

I honestly see no reason why a controller is better than a keyboard, especially for platformers where you only need about 4 buttons anyway. Why does it seem so obvious for you guys?

Re: Skyward Sword - I'd recommend pointing that sword downwa

ANNNNNDDDDDDDDDDD it's finally over. God the game took too long to beat, I feel like the whole last third is just too long. That being said the last trip to the forest very Banjo-Kazooie-like in a very good way and I loved the final dungeon - though it would have been even better if the puzzle was h...

Re: Skyward Sword - I'd recommend pointing that sword downwa

Tentalus is literally the worst boss fight ever. I was seriously appalled at the design laziness that went there. All the other bosses before were pretty cool, especially because, compared to previous Zeldas, they made you use the sword a lot more, and that made Tentalus all the more disappointing....

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle 4

I played through 1.5 worlds of Meat Boy (that is, only did the light part of the second world) and I'm finding it quite boring. And I think the controls are pretty stupid, landing on a platform is way too hard, and the fact that you're supposed to wall-jump pretty much everywhere is just silly.

Re: Touhou Danmaku Hell - Success and Failure Stories

Of course, by "full-series hard 1cc", I hope you're talking about playing all the games in order and making yourself start the following game with the exact amount of ressources you had at the end of the previous one! 8-) That would actually be pretty cool. Wonder if it would easily be pro...

Well, that was very interesting! Most of it was very pretty, some patterns were better than others gameplay-wise (though it didn't really look that hard overall), and WTH happened to Kaguya?

blabla, my non-Touhou thread, blahblah Don't forget to buy your train ticket! The destination, you ask? Me being the Master of the Universe, that is beating the famous indie game VVVVVV without ever dying or saving. This is going to be a long and arduous trip, I'll tell you that! Yeah, so I'm starti...

Re: Touhou Danmaku Hell - Success and Failure Stories

Just use whatever you're used to - changing won't be so easy, mostly because on a pad the arrows are on the left, while on a keyboard they're on the right.
