Re: Vanilla Level Design Contest 11 -- Lunchtime somewhere

Tomato jonson's VLDC entry is actually a lot more playable than the one he submitted for the base rom contest. So you've got to give him that at the very least.

Re: Vanilla Level Design Contest 11 -- Shines per level

Just a word of warning, the timer restrictions do become a bit of an issue in certain levels. (most noticeably in the puzzle themed levels) I think some people didn't quite design their level with the restrictions in mind because some of them seem quite lengthy. You likely will have little time left...

Re: Last Impact : Eleventh Bell Toll (for Prince Sable)

It's only a matter of time before they start showing up, and in no time we'll have levels that are 99% bottomless pits and 0.5% platforms that aren't stable We'll see, I guess. Last Impact is surprisingly generous in that sense. Seems Kaze wanted to ease the player into the game a bit more than mos...

Re: Last Impact : Eleventh Bell Toll (for Prince Sable)

Anyone else notice the absence of death pits in this hack? In Star Road, they were used quite a lot throughout, but in this hack I can only really recall the first Bowser having a death pit so far.

Re: i updated this way too late cldc 2018 - mmmmmm

I have a strong feeling we'll see a replay of a certain level after raocow realizes who the level author is.

Re: someone talk to me about god 2018 - screen-edge scrolling

That's not bad, to be honest. It's Lakitu sending you your reserved item from the heavens. It's better than it being stuck in a rusty old box.

Re: someone talk to me about god 2018 - screen-edge scrolling

In my opinion, SMW's standard status bar is kinda a pain, because: * It goes over the screen rather than above or below the screen. This means the people don't get a full view of the level, so there is potential of them getting screwed over by something hiding under the status bar. * Most custom bac...

Re: Chocolate Level Design Contest 2018 - apples

stuff with vldcx is kind of h How can you say such things? You are part of the top 10 in that contest. Last I recall, there were talks of doing a top 60 collab ROM, but I haven’t really followed SMWC in almost a year now so I don’t know if it ever took off/is still happening. I heard that too. I do...

I heard that too. I don't think anything came from it. There's no visible progress as far as I can tell.

I would have preferred the mystery LP being VLDCX.

Nintendo knows most players suck, which is why the sky/sea gives you way too many 1UPs. :P

Re: SMB3 e-Reader Stages - Exciting

If he wants a fresh save up until the point he's got to, I've attached it. Only difference being, the extra lives and the fact the levels were beaten by Mario instead.

Re: MYUP - Mmmmmh... YUM!

This game really dropped in entertainment value when North Korea began. Every level is just either a puzzle or just really bad and overly difficult and the personality has really been lost. The hack was bad before that point. It's especially disappointing to me because Koopster hinted the possible ...

Re: VLDC9 - varicolored luminosity deluding canopies 9

Actually, I did it on a stream (didn't get the dragon coins though). It's gone now, however. The pitching chucks were positioned in ways where I think it was easy to weave in between the baseballs. The bullet shooters were literally everywhere and it was very stressful, but none of them fired in my...

Re: VLDC9 - varicolored luminosity deluding canopies 9

Tomorrow there will probably be two levels. Oh boy Oh ninja boy indeed I actually really liked his level. For some reason I was able to dodge every single baseball and bullet without getting hit at all, and it was the greatest feeling. Also, wah I don't believe you. Do it again, but this time with ...

Re: VLDC9 - vitreous locomotives diffracted cosmos 9

worldpeace isn't much of an aesthetics dude. i wonder if he invested more into making his levels pretty would they place even higher. nah, his aesthetics are good. It wouldn't be the same if his levels were all flashy and ornate. Using default smw graphics and palettes is the best way to make it ea...

Ice Cutting Site is great design wise, but visually it leaves a lot to be desired.

Re: VLDC9 - vast lookouts descriptive checkers 9

Meh! I knew the reception of Square Land would be mixed before it was even judged. Not honestly entirely sure what I was thinking while making it. Flash Black on the other hand is neat. The author is very creative. Though I think the level should have been made way simpler to accommodate the gimmick...

Please don't suggest LPing CLDC 2016. I want to forget how terrible I did.
