Re: VIP 5 2019 - Like fish that be ruddy to tales that be muddy

I think that the way to get up to that blue platform is to spinjump off of the highest saw. I'm not sure if it actually goes high enough, but it LOOKS like it might work. The reward is just skipping most of the sawblade section, I guess.

Re: VIP 5 2019 - Like randomisation to those who want to be surprised

The parallax scroll in the fire section is tripping me out. The moon and the clouds are scrolling way too fast for how far back they are, slower than the pillar even. It makes them look like they're closer than the pillars, despite them being behind the pillars. It makes me want to see an Escher-esq...

Re: Henry Hatsworth - Ladies and gentlemen, kindly remove your hats

I looked up a bit of endgame Hatsworth to see what it was like honestly because the earlygame was boring me? Not because of raocow's play because of the game itself. Looks like this game is a slow burn, the kind that doles out your new abilities one at a time. The platforming and the bosses in the l...

Re: Does raocow play RPGs? aka secret FAQ thread

Isn't LISA 2D? I feel like that would help somewhat from a purely psychosomatic standpoint. Same could be said for Super Paper Mario. It is, but my concern is its subject matter. From the word go, LISA is an unrelentingly grim game about all kinds of abuse, physical mental sexual etc. Drug abuse, d...

Re: DT3 Epilogue - raocow: endgame

the reason why the reasoning above doesn't land with me is that we keep beating hexor I think that's understandable because DT3 Hex is both a much more insidious type of villain than you would expect from DT's story, and a significant tonal departure from the more in-your-face troll Hexor from DT1....

Re: VIP 5 2019 - Like a zero-output of waste to those who wanna make haste

At some point I stopped watching the original VIP5 LP, because I do not remember this world 7 at ALL. About the last thing I remembered from VIP5 was Livin' on the Deck. Y'know, before VIP5 actually came out, I would obsessively refresh the VIP wiki looking for info and updates about it, despite the...

Re: DT3 Epilogue - raocow: endgame

And so, the long saga of Distorted Travesty (once again) came to an end. What a heck of a game and what a heck of an LP. I know I'm in the extreme minority here, but actually I was never bothered by the original ending. It fascinated me, I honestly thought it took a lot of guts to take a series with...

Re: request grab-bag

Once upon a time I voted down Undertale in a patreon poll. Mostly it was RPGs being totally new, along with the fact that it got recommended to everyone, so it didn't seem like raocow's style. Since the ice has been broken on RPGs though, I'll voice support on UT now. IF, and I cannot emphasize this...

Re: Does raocow play RPGs? aka secret FAQ thread

Anyways, glad he will be playing Lisa: The Painful RPG potentially (hopefully) after the next patreon game. I saw this, said NO FRIKKEN WAY, then got disappointed when I saw it was from 4 years ago. It's about the last RaoPG I would expect outta the channel, not something I would have recommended, ...

Re: Introduction/Welcome Thread

Hi. I've posted in this thread before. I've had several usernames over the years, but I finally dug this one back out because I go by StormieGalaxies on most sites these days. I've been a lurker in the rao community for a long, watching LPs if the game itself interested me but not participating much...

Re: YUMP - Yeah! Updated Mthe Pthread

Jesus. I have no idea how that level could get accepted. If I had been part of the dev team, I would put a hard no on including it in that form. But alas, I am not a dev, but merely a long-time lurker who selectively watches a series or not based on interest in the game. I'm interested in YUMP for a...

Re: MYUP - Mmmmmh... YUM!

Can I just express an appreciation for the inconsistency in how the water flows? On the map you're going up a waterfall (against the flow), but in the level you're going with the tides (with the flow).

Re: MaGL 3 results: now viewable at 7500rpm

The weird list of items in Zyglrox Odyssey's bonus room are all items in Final Fantasy 8. Even knowing that though, I can't figure out the point of the message box. I thought maybe they would spell out a hidden message from either cards refineable into those items, or spells/other items refineable f...

Re: MaGL 3 results: a magl of ice and fire

That silence creeps me out in a way that few glitches do. It creates a profoundly unnatural feeling, like reality itself is corrupted within the virtual world, and the effect is amplified by how the whole thing breaks as soon as Mario tries to exit it in some way. I'm not normally one to find glitch...

Re: MaGL 3 results: dinosaur omelette

Thank you for opting to have infinite lives after the midpoint. There were a total of 25 deaths in the lava climb (including 1 in the hallway before it), and having to redo the first half another 5+ times would have been heartbreaking.

Every time raocow makes an appeal to Mario himself for control issues, it makes me think of that old commercial for milk starring Mario.

Re: Super Mario Star Road - raocow plays a 3D game (Back after a long month!)

The placement of the blue bob-omb is neat in how it makes for a midpoint of sorts. You have to deal with some of the hardest platforming in the stage to reach the unlock, but once you do you can use the cannon as a shortcut to many places in the level.

Re: MaGL 3 results: well that happened

I'm pretty sure the mistake is in the "3x + 34 = 150" one. x would have to be equal to 38.666~, when every other problem works out to a whole number. (5776/x) - x = 0 can be rephrased as simply x = squareroot(5776), which is 76. So, that passcode room should go 3, 1, 5, ?, ?, 7, 6. The onl...

Re: MaGL 3 results: genuine effort city (tm)

"well that happened" had a neat look imo. It makes me wonder how a level would play if you had a "swaying" layer 2 like that, but instead of being pickup blocks you had horizontal wraparound. I've never made a level, so I don't know how hard it would be to implement in either SMW...

Re: Stuck at Home (A Thread for Homestucks)

I used to be a big fan of this back when it was big, but I fell out of it because of the gigapause. Lately I've been working on a reread from the beginning. It's slow going because holy jeez I forgot just how long this comic is.

Re: Mischief Makers - Robot shakes things, everyone is happy

Thank you for LPing this game! It's been a fun romp, and seeing this game with fresh eyes has been an interesting insight into the ways this game is rough around the edges. When I was young, I wasn't knowledgeable enough about games to see how gimmicky it can be, or how disjointed the endgame feels....

A+ episode. I lost it laughing at the ledge grab dropping the baby penguin into the abyss, and again at that weird weird place to put a star and the resulting slip off the edge.
