Re: Vanilla Level Design Contest X - The Normal's Disco Bright

So who is raocow referring to? I thought I knew but it sounds like there might be another person I'm not aware of. (I thought it was Willhart, for reference.) Well, the user (guilty of predatory behavior) made their VLDCX entry with another creator who is also banned from SMWC (though not for anyth...

Re: Whole Grain Bread

Whole grain is about the only bread I eat at home. I know some people say they have trouble adapting to it after growing up eating white bread, but I grew up with whole grain wheat and always enjoyed its flavor.

This is frankly why I don't consider people on the internet as friends, just people to talk to when you're bored. Did you just friendzone the entire talkhaus No I didn't. I acquaitancezoned them. 8-) You definitely need to be much more cautious online, but your sentiment could easily apply to real ...

Re: 1 quart of standard formula brown sauce

Yeah, its not unusual for forests to be mixed in dry, rocky or sandy areas, especially in the Southwest US. Trees will grow wherever conditions are favorable. As Alice said, that wasn't a real desert either. If you want to see sand dunes in a forest, google the Kobuk sand dunes I. Alaska. I gotta ad...

Re: ?

Sooo, anyone in the Portland area been to the Hollywood Theatre? I recently found out they're equipped to show 70mm films and are showing Tron, Ghostbusters, and Interstellar in 70mm during the second weekend in April. I was so overjoyed that I bought a ticket for each film.

Re: Don't you just hate the heat?

Yeah, after a week of snow and ice here in Washington, I would love for temperatures to soar and melt everything on the ground. It will only be in the low 50s F on Wednesday, but that will probably feel mighty nice after days on end of sub-freezing weather. Wisconsin. We're not as continuously cold ...

Re: Don't you just hate the heat?

I'm in Melbourne, which is on the south-eastern coast of the mainland. ah, that would help. How hot does it get inland and further north? Nambona's probably more knowledgeable than me (obviously, he lives there after all) but my understanding is that Melbourne has generally comfortable summers with...

Re: The Mario Megathread (NP: Super Mario Bros. 3)

And my usual comments. I always liked the two-player mode in SMB3, because it didn't *require* a second controller. If none was present, you'd just control both brothers, though I'm not sure if you could get into the battle mode stages that way. One little thing you didn't cover is that each brothe...

I live near Vancouver, Washington and we're also getting snow tomorrow. It's been almost 3 years since the last real snowfall here. We're supposed to be getting snow soon across the river as well. Portland doesn't get snow half as much as it should. Tell me about it. I used to live in Colorado, so ...

IIrc, my method for clearing that jump in TaviTurnip's level was to jump at full speed off the upper ledge, land on the upper solid branch, and then jump the gap. Her level looks very interesting, but would have benefited immensely from for development time. I was pleasantly surprised with my level ...

Re: Make A Good Level Contest (SMW) 3 - Discussion

I've only given one level a spin and I think I might try out a couple others just to give myself a teensy bit of expectation when the LP starts. Just so I can go "oh man it's that one" every now and then. I also highly expect my level was not the happiness one, haha. I didn't go with any ...
